  • Guardiola on being offered the United job by Ferguson…

“He invited me to a super restaurant and we spent a very good time together.
“My English is not so good and Sir Alex spoke quickly, so sometimes I have a problem understanding him.
“That’s why maybe I didn’t understand if I received an offer or not! No, it was a friendly dinner, he was very gentle with me.
“He always talks with me like a coach and we spent a very good time together.”

I guess the strategy would be the nicer the restaurant, the lower the chance of the "gag! choke! barf!" reflex kicking in. It would have been an interesting option to see Pep at Manu**, although I don't think he would have come. He had to move on to a club where he actually had a chance of dominance...which ruled England out all together. Watch for Bayern to run a string of league titles together over the next 5 years, there is no one in that league that can top their spending. FFP can't come soon enough. It has gotten ridiculous. Remember when Forest got promoted and then won the First Division in the 70's? Fat chance of that ever happening again in any football league. Sucks.

I think it was Napoleon that wept when he saw there was no more world to conquer, portrayed in a poem by Shakespeare.
He likely was tempted but wasn't pursued adequately.
He certainly knows Barca and Bayern well but how can he know anything about Man U with Moyes' penchant for fielding a fundamentally different starting eleven each and every game?
Evra is one dimensional,he will always hug the the throw line even if there are acres to his right begging to be exploited.Buttner isn't plagued by tunnel vision, and defensively will pose problems to Robben.
The same difference regarding Januzaj and Young.
Smalling reads the game well ergo less likely to be exploited than often out of position Jones.
Rafael is a decent right back player whose crosses are suspect.Valencia is less wanting...
Kagawa can give a good account of himself against any midfielder.
Ruud scored quite a few goals in the six yard box because of his predatory instincts,Hernandez is the same.
A RvP-less side means a totally different attacking strategy, probably beneficial by default.

Even the difference between fielding Rio and Vidic is worth noting,Rio is more suited to defend inside the box whilst Vidic is ideal outside...
Both love being part of the offense but Rio being more capable of advancing the ball....

You would also need a translator for the translator. Even me cannot understand 75% of what Fergie says most of the times and he is speaking English which I consider my first language (not counting patois). I can see the difficulty a man like Pep would have understanding him. Maybe Pep was just nodding most of the time and seemed noncommittal. Fergie is there wondering what is up with this man.
