Liverpool's Suarez and Sturridge lead race for Golden Boot... will the Kop idols' personal battle fire Merseysiders to their first title in 24 years?

Having one striker challenging for the Barclays Premier League golden boot is decent, having two indicates careful preparation to attacking football.
When Brendan Rodgers brought Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool 13 months ago there was an intention to engineer a productive partnership with Luis Suarez, to unite a duo with twin creative and finishing abilities.
Whether the Liverpool manager envisioned such a remarkable return in purely statistical terms is, though, doubtful. Suarez and Sturridge lead the list of the league’s deadliest, with 23 and 18 goals respectively. Not even in the days of English football’s original SAS were such tallies accumulated at this stage of a season.

    RACE FOR THE GOLDEN BOOT

    Luis Suarez............................................ ......23
    Daniel Sturridge..........................................18
    Sergio Aguero.............................................15
    Yaya Toure.................................................. .13
    Olivier Giroud.............................................12
    Eden Hazard*...............................................12
    Loic Remy.................................................. ...12
    * Eden Hazard (12) is the only Chelsea
player to have scored more than six PL goals this season, yet they're top of the league.

Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton ended Blackburn’s title-winning season of 1994-95 with 34 and 15 goals each – a combined total of 49 that looks well within range for the Liverpool pair with 11 games to go.
Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole, a double act of fearsome understanding for Manchester United, scored 18 and 17 goals in the Treble season of 1998-99.
Only Chelsea in 2009-10 have been lucky enough to field two players reaching 20 goals in a 38-match campaign. Didier Drogba scored 29, while Frank Lampard got 22. They won the title.
What is even more impressive is that both Suarez and Sturridge have missed large chunks of this season with through suspension and injury.

Flying high: Sturridge celebrates Liverpool's third goal against Swansea as Suarez runs to congratulate him

Now, both fully fit and free of bans, they are in startling form. By finding the net against Swansea, Sturridge has become only the second player to score in eight consecutive Premier League games. Ruud van Nistelrooy holds the record with 10, set in 2003.
Both Sturridge and Suarez feature in a table for Europe’s best, too.

Sturridge is behind only Sergio Aguero for minutes per goal in the continent’s top five leagues.
He scores once every 83 minutes compared to the Argentine’s ratio of one in 80 minutes. Cristiano Ronaldo has 22 goals for Real Madrid at a rate of one every 84 minutes. A Suarez goal comes once every 86 minutes.
For club and country both are in Europe’s top 10, mixing it with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lionel Messi.

It all means that Liverpool have taken over Manchester City’s claim to be England’s entertainers. They have 70 Premier League goals, one ahead of the team from down the East Lancs Road.

Liverpool have scored before half-time in each of their last 17 Barclays Premier League games and after his cross for Sturridge’s headed goal against Villa, Suarez now has the joint-most assists (nine), alongside Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney.
The challenge now, for Rodgers, is to translate all this into trophies.

    Cristiano Ronaldo 22 84

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

That cross by Suarez that led to the header by his striking partener was simply brilliant.

Question begging statement by the Pool fan.
Pool has a knack for getting all three points, that is a HUGE problem.
Hoperfully Suarez becomes overly concerned about the Golden Boot Award insomuch that he becomes selfish to the detriment of the team.
Suarez is at the helm because of his blazing start, just maybe a blazing finish by Sturridgemight be enough.Besides,Sturridge is figuring now....

                          Imaginary cracks or not?
Fact is inorder for my team to go up yours likely will have to go down.
Attention fixed on Pool is appropriate, they are in fourth. They can move in either directions. If they go up then the gap for my team is widened as the new fourth place team would probaly be even further away from my team that Pool currently is.No misplqced focus from the teams above Pool or below.

Could it be the games become more difficult as the season progresses?
There is a rhatid relegation fight that is about to get more intense and teams sure to be relegated making exit statements.
                              Grit poses problems.
