Is there a partnership developing between Portland Timbers & Portmore United???

***There's the Alvas Powell loan & they are now invited to participate in this tournament. If so, good for Portmore (player/coach development) & Portland (1st look at any young talent).

After they play Portmore FC they will not be looking again if they were too. Chances are Portmore will play players on these teams that are being looked at not the entire first side of MSL sides

I stated that there could be a partnership developing between both teams, & stated how it could be mutually beneficial......Was anything wrong with that???

***If U think that MLS teams are done signing for the season then you're WRONG.....When was Alvas Powell signed, last season???

To answer your question, yes they have a partnership.

            Portmore ready for US tour

            Marc Stamp, STAR Writer

Portmore United will look to expose players in the United States of America (USA) when they face three US Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs in the Rose City Invitational tournament from February 23-March 1 in the United States.

The Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) outfit will embark on the first of a three-year deal with hosts Portland Timbers in Portland, Oregon.

They are scheduled to depart the island today and face Vancouver Whitecaps tomorrow at Providence Park (formerly JELD-WEN Field). On Wednesday, Portmore tackle Portland Timbers and round off the trip with a game against San Jose Earthquakes four days later. All games will be played at the Portland Timbers' home venue.

"The club (Portmore United) has a three-year deal with Portland Timbers. The aim is to expose talent to the overseas market," coach of Portmore United Calvin Lewis said.

"We need valuable exposure for the players and to get them familiar with professional set-ups. This is certainly an avenue for the players to be spotted by scouts," Lewis added.

Lewis informed that a 22-man squad will make the trip. The official party includes Calvin Lewis, Linval 'Rudie' Dixon (assistant coach) and Clive Marshall (manager).

Vancouver Whitecaps is the club of Reggae Boyz Darren Mattocks and Andre Lewis, while their compatriots Donovan Ricketts, Ryan Johnson and Alvas Powell represent Portland Timbers.

Thanks for the info. I hope Portmore takes full advantage of this partnership.
I see why you keep saying that the sports writers don't do proper research.....Ryan Johnson is not with Portland & I don't think he's in MLS.
NOTE: Shaun Johnson is with San Jose, so all 3 MLS teams have at least 1 Jamaican.
