  • These are the numbers I like, Stoni!

    Pass masters

Bayern Munich made 863 passes compared to Arsenal's 222.

The Germans' passing accuracy was 94.6% and they had 78.8% of possession.

Arsenal had just 12% of possession in the second half.

    It's a passing game, people!

It would be interesting to see how those numbers break down after the red card...and of course...before.

Didn't see the game but that is true dominance in terms of possession, even though the bottom line score does not reflect that dominance, such disparity suggest the scoreline should have been five or more goal difference.

Certainly wasn't as striking in the first half.
You can't sacrifice defence for offense against a team like Bayern.Even with ten players,Arsenal should have done much better keeping possession .

          Yup!

I thought some of those 'boot up field' were uncalled for. We could have passed out.

One of the positives for my GUNNERS was Yaya Sanogo. Granted he showed he has a problem with balance (...a bit of inexperience exaggerated same...e.g. failure to go towards under-hit passes. Failure to, when TEAM on offense, take up space...i.e. not so smart movement. Poor agility on turn towards goal when had back to goal...reaction time a tad slow...)....but he showed himself more TEAM-man and potential for growth waaaaaaaaaaaay above Giroud.

Hope Wenger gives him more playing time and the midfielders work at creating chances for him.

If I am not mistaken he gave 'The Ox' 2 good look-ins. Right?

Re: ...the scoreline should have been five or more goal difference

Arsenal put in heroic defensive display. Often possession kept by Bayern during attempts to draw The Gunners out or otherwise 'pull-apart' The GUNNERS defensive structure/disrupt organization.

That tearing apart of The GUNNERS defense was done to great effect on the the incident that led to GUNNERS' goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny. sending off and the award of a penalty and the 2nd goal.

...so most often the possession was away from The GUNNERS' final third.

            Game was enthralling spectacle.
Worth a watch - Surely replays will be on over the next several days.
