    Jamaica's senior football team, the Reggae Boyz, are down to face Chile in a friendly international here at the National Stadium on Tuesday, June 5, at 7:00 pm.

    The friendly is expected to be the first of possibly three games for the Boyz during the month. They could also engage in friendlies in the middle east as well as south-east Asia. However, these games are yet to be confirmed.

    It is also expected that technical director Velibor 'Bora' Milutinovic will use the opportunity to introduce more of the overseas-based Boyz, as he continues his examination of the talent pool at his disposal.

    Ranked 37th on the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, Chile, the seven-time World Cup finalist, who finished third as hosts to eventual winners, Brazil, in 1962, take on the Reggae Boyz on the back of a win, two draws and a loss (0-4 to Brazil) in their last four outings.

    The win was a 1-0 scoreline over South American neighbours Venezuela on February 7, while the draws were 1-1 against Central American outfit Costa Rica on March 28 and a goalless result with two-time World Cup winners Argentina on April 18.

    Jamaica are ranked 68th on the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, and ended 1-1 against boogie team Panama in Bora's first home match on Monday, March 26. Jose Luis Garces put the visitors ahead in the fourth minute before Sheffield United's striker Luton Shelton equalised on the stroke of half-time.

    The training squad, including those from overseas, will be named shortly.

    "It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

    The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) announced yesterday that the Reggae Boyz will play South Americans Chile in a friendly international match at the National Stadium on Tuesday, June 5.

    Crenston Boxhill, president of the JFF, told The Gleaner in a interview yesterday that the Reggae Boyz will play to remain active as they are not scheduled to compete in any tournament until the 2010 World Cup qualifiers begin next year.

    The game will also be the second on home soil for technical director Velibor 'Bora' Milutinovic, whose main goal is to qualify for the Boyz for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

    "This game is still part of the familiarisation and selection process of our new technical director, Velibor 'Bora' Milutinovic," said Boxhill.

    Boxhill added that the JFF hasn't named a squad as yet for next month's friendly, but it will consist mainly of local players, similar to the team named for the last match against Panama in March.

    "As you know he (Milutinovic) has taken a different approach. He has been travelling the entire length of the island looking at players from various competitions and he has also been using some our well-established and well-known players from abroad," Boxhill said.

    "Chile is a good team and they are also ranked above us. We have approached a couple of teams and a couple of teams have agreed to play against us, out of which we chose Chile," Boxhill pointedout.

    The Chileans are ranked at 37th in the world rankings and were held to a 0-0 draw by Argentina in their last away match.

    Boxhill added: "We chose Chile because we think that would fit into our plans and there are some other games that we are going to be playing shortly and as soon as they are confirmed we will make the announcement."

    Commenting on the national Under-17 team's failure to qualify for the World Cup recently, Boxhill stated: "There is nothing to beat a positive and a positive result last Sunday in the our Under-17 World Cup qualifying match against Trinidad and Tobago would've meant a lot more importance than a positive result come the fifth of June."

    The Reggae Boyz , who are ranked 68th in the FIFA world rankings, were held to a 0-0 draw by Panama in their last game at the National Stadium. Before then they were beaten 2-0 by Switzerland in Florida on March 22.

      If I remember correctly, the Jamaica Panama friendly was played at The Office. Now the Jamaica Chile will also be played at home at The Office which could possibly mean that the Jamaica Chile match will be shown on Fox Soccer Channel & Sportsmax.
      Does this logic apply since they both braodcast the Jamaica Panama live?
