  • Sprinter Luton Shelton on JA's IAAF World Cup 4 x 100M team!

Luton Shelton (born on November 11, 1985) is a football player from Jamaica and is currently playing as a striker for Sheffield United in the English Premier league.

Shelton is an extremely quick player with a great sense of finding the net. In August 2005 he was due to move to a then high flying Championship side Burnley FC after a very succesful pre season trial. They attempted to sign the player however a work permit was rejected.

August 2006 he joined Helsingborgs IF from the Jamaican club Harbour View for approximately £100,000.

During the 2006 season, he scored 9 goals in 19 games (1 goal more than Henrik Larsson who played 15 times) in the Swedish Allsvenskan despite playing only irregularly due to repeated injuries.

Whilst at the club he has scored a total of 17 goals in 28 competitive matches, including 5 goals in 4 Swedish Cup matches on the way to Helsingborg's victory in the competition. His 120th minute winning goal versus to-be league champions IF Elfsborg in the quarterfinal (4-3) and the 1-0 goal in the final versus Gefle IF are memorable events for Helsingborg fans.

Shelton transferred to Sheffield United on a three and a half year contract for a fee of £1.85 million on January 15, 2007 and was officially unveiled by club on 24 January 2007.

Shelton has been capped eleven times for Jamaica, scoring 2 goals.

Shelton is said to run 100m in 10.01 seconds, just under half a second slower than the world record.

Well, it looks like he's going to be sprinting in the Championship next season.

      Sheffield United went down.

Yes he did go to Manu on trail. I thought he played with the Man U reserves.

Freddy Adu to train with Manchester United

I understans sir Alex took a look but said Freddie wasn't ready.

He is a god little player still, but I think he is going to be outdone by the youth Altidore.

              Talks with European teams

On 9 November 2006, Manchester United confirmed that Adu would be attending a two-week trial with them at the end of November. After this trial, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson praised Adu and stated that they would monitor him with the possibility of signing him when he turns 18.

His former coach (Peter Nowak) stated that it would be better for his development if he would go to one of the top clubs in the Netherlands, such as Ajax Amsterdam – which has an established youth academy. Nowak argued that it would be better for Adu's development if he avoided the physical 'top' European leagues until he established himself as a regular player. He also believes Adu is better suited to the technical style of play in the Eredivisie (highest league in The Netherlands).

In February 2007, Adu took part in an interview with Real Madrid's official website, admitting that he "dreams about playing for Real Madrid" one day.

                It was a training stint.

He can't sign with a European team until he turns 18. So insinuating that he failed because he came back to the States unsigned only shows your ignorance.

One rhatid line on his speed, the remainder of the article is on his remarkable goal scoring rate.
Looks like he will be scoring whereever he plays.

Real Madrid, Real Salt Lake - what's the difference?!

Is a good ting di MLS don't have relegation, or the next Pele would be running around in the USLs!

How come a side like Real Madrid...sorry, Real Salt Lake, with all those stars, incl. Andy Williams, are at the bottom of the table?

Failed because Sir Alex marked him - Not Ready!
Pupils "not ready" mark is X

                              That X signifies FAILURE!

At that, Adu sat the ManU exam and failed!
