&T officials off to Korea for Finals draw

Trinidad and Tobago National Under 17 team head coach Anton Corneal and team manager Christopher Gouveia will head off to Seoul, Korea on Monday to witness the official draw for the FIFA Under 17 World Championship scheduled to take place on Thursday.
Following the draw, depending on what group T&T ends up in, the officials will be taken the day after the draw to inspect venues and hotels.
Corneal and his staff met on Friday to initiate plans for the team’s final preparations leading up to the start of the finals and part of it includes at least six international warm up matches.
“We came up with an initial draft of what we plan to do up until the beginning of the tournament,” Corneal told TTFF Media. “Of course it will be more specific after the draw but we are hoping to play up to six international matches against company that will be similar to what we have to face in the tournament. We also plan to play six local matches where we intend to meet the best of the Under 17 players in the Pro League which will also allow for maybe some more scouting as well as face some of the Reserve Professional teams.’
Corneal emphasized that the preparation will be a three-phase one.
“It’s a specific training plan that we have come up with and we will also take into consideration that a few of the kids will be undergoing exams over the next 3-4 weeks. We don’t expect that to affect the overall preparation of the team. This is an initial draft that can be adjusted based on the draw and how other things come into play over the next couple of weeks,” he added.
