Would there be enough support to make this venture financially viable? We know what is like in Jamaica where football atendance is concerned. RSPL get less support than Schoolboy football. What are the chances that this would change if a MLS team were brought in?

Next year they will have to significantly increase their minimum salary because the players union has seen the money the league is spending and the will see the massive increase in TV money.
The franchise here is a long shot and it was a complete failure in Antigua for the USL.Comment

People actually will pay for the franchise if they think there is potential to make money. Most of the teams and the league have not been very financially stable over the years. They are getting better though, but not there as yet. Some teams are still running on empty tanks and bearly making it. Just ask yourself how the "league" is able to support huge transfer fees and also create a special pot of money for key players' salary. The new Tv contract for the Us broadcast is going to be huge and they are getting good money for Canadian and Mexican broadcasts.
Next year, you will see the league significantly increase player compensation.Comment

I believe it can work,but it would take a billionare to launch a franchise in the carribbean.

Would not be fair either. Some clubs work on getting their players transferred while others sit and pray.
This talk is not new, however. It probably could work as long as the clubs who actually get the transfers get the lion's share of the proceeds and put the rest in the PLCA tilly.

No each individual club get most of the money. I was thinking in terms of a 75/25 of all transfer. An academy would benefit all as it could lead to more transfers, even from the better club. Fact is too many clubs are not interested in developing their players or can't afford it.

Can work if the 'money sharing' allows that the CFU team is carried!!!
That 'at the gates', rental of stadium, etc...and sale of merchandise cannot be a 'winnah' or provide worth-while financial support in our 'huge'
market - CFU market.
Why would the MLS owners vote to expand in our CFU market?
Convince 'The Massive' that such a move makes sense? Pleeeeeeease?

Maybe the franchise could reside in some country where games are attended. It is always a chance but I guess some survey would have to be done. Not all the MLS franchises have worked so well, eg. Fusion, and the second team in LA.- Don't let negative things break you, instead let it be your strength, your reason for growth. Orlando City had to also commit to building a $80 million stadium for them to get awarded the 21st MLS franchise. I believe the city/county chipping in half of that money.

Funny, I was proposing such alliances ten years ago getting in on the ground level and all I could hear was Mls ah bush league, look like say the bush grow up into a nice little hedge now!Comment
