  • HL!!! Please answer these questions.

I notice that every time someone posts that there is an abundance of football talent in Jamaica, you're quick to object or make fun of it.
    1. Why is this???
    2. What's your PROOF to disprove this claim???

    • Don't let negative things break you, instead let it be your strength, your reason for growth. Life is for living and I won't spend my life feeling cheated and downtrodden.

USAF, I have a problem ONLY with the adjective abundance...not talent.

And from the results from games at all age levels, that feature local footballers, the result shows the term talent should also be used sparingly.

I spent the Thanksgiving week-end in Jamaica. I was "fortunate" to watch two games on TV. The Walker Cup final and another final (I think) between STETS and another High school. Both games were painful to watch...'specially the Walker Cup.

I thought about the term: abundance of talent ~~sigh~~.

I know it was only two games...but I said naaaah. Your average USA High school soccer team would eat these locals High School's lunch.

Local footballers only look 'good' against each other. Put them against a team from other footballing countries and you will see the proof.

USAF The term: abundance of talent is just a feel good statement.

LAST: I drove past the Real Madrid sponsored football field... and apart from the sign beginning to be overgrown by vegetation, the field itself was like a pasture for cattle; and this trend is not unique.

[Jamaican football talent will significantly improve if serious attention is given to infrastructure...'specially the surface of the football field].
The only time TRUTH will hurt you...is if you ignore it long enough

HL!!! First you dispute the claims that Jamaica has an abundance of football talent & now you are questioning the quality of the talent based on results from poorly coached teams & poorly taught players.
TALENT doesn't guarantee you success, it only provides you with the opportunity & possibility to achieve success if it's effectively nurtured & developed, by teachers & the individual.
***When they find that diamond in the ground it's covered with dirt & embedded in rock, and sometimes if you don't know what you're looking for you might miss it, but if this diamond isn't properly mined, cleaned, cut & polished then you won't realize its TRUE value.......That's why you don't see the TALENT & the VALUE that's there. You are looking for the finished product, but there is no system in place to properly & effectively nurture & develop the wealth of football talent that's there. Every coach that has gone to Jamaica has stated that the problem is not TALENT but a lack of efficient & effective development.
Before the late '80s - early '90s there was just a trickle, at best, of talent emerging from Africa, but these countries invested the time & money to develop their personnel & nurture & develop their abundance of TALENT.....Now these players are in every TOP league in the world, and are no longer seen as push-overs in the WC.
***Having good, qualified personnel (coaches, trainers, etc) is more important than perfect or near perfect fields.
