The 18 clubs of the Bundesliga earned 127.8 million euros from the sponsorship of their shirts, up from 119.8 million euros last year. However, the 20 clubs of the English Premier League took in 157 million euros.
Of the Bundesliga clubs, Bayern Munich (T-Mobile) was tops with 27 million euros, Schalke 04 (Gazprom) at 15 million euros, and Wolfsburg (Volkswagen) at 12 million. All clubs are sponsored on a shoulder patch by the courier service Hermes.
At the other end, the German online retailer getgoods.de who sponsored Bundesliga 2 club Arminia Bielefeld, went bankrupt. Today, the team introduced hair care product manufacturer Alpecin as its new sponsor.
