  • Reggae Boyz Ricketts, Brown cop MLS awards - TALENT!

It either abounds or we have very talented players. Either way, the facts speak for themselves. Don't forget the exploits of other players who may not have received awards but have done their fair share of damage in the MLS.

KINGSTON, Jamaica --- Jamaica's first-choice goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts and striker Deshorn Brown were named US MLS Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Year, respectively.
Ricketts, who plays for the Portland Timbers, was winning the award for the second time. He has done so with the glamour franchise Los Angeles Galaxy back in 2010.

Brown, who is a new recruit with the Reggae Boyz -- having made four appearances -- copped the outstanding freshman award for his 10 goals and four assists for Colorado Rapids.
He will share the award with Colorado teammate Dillion Powers, who received 11 votes, the same as Brown.
Powers, however, scored only five goals, but had eight assists.
Brown, a former St Elizabeth Technical High School standout and the sixth overall pick in the draft, was the second Jamaican to have won the Rookie of the Year award.
Another striker, former player Damani Ralph, achieved the distinction back in 2003 with 11 goals for Chicago Fire.

Where did he get the info? Possibly only announced to the media?

Announced to the Jamaican media only? More like, the Jamaican journalist saw the SB Nation bloggers awarding them and didn't look into it or disclose. The usual laziness from Sean Williams.
