    Herbert ‘Dago’ Gordon is dead

    KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Herbert ‘Dago’ Gordon former Trench Town High School and Boys’ Town standout footballer and cricketer has died.

    Gordon who represented Jamaica in football at the senior level and cricket as a schoolboy in the 1970s was in a coma for the last five days OBSERVER ONLINE has learned.

    Gordon died on Sunday at about 10:00am at the Kingston Public Hospital. He was diabetic.

    Boys Town contemporaries of Gordon include Carl Brown, former Reggae Boyz coach; Derrick ‘Shastri’ Denniser; Lloyd ‘Respic’ Morgan, former Jamaica goalkeeper; Milverton Brooks former Jamaica captain and Allie McNab.

    Immensely talented at both football and cricket...

    Never knew he was ill.

    Always had good interaction with him. I knew him as passionate about Boys Town and playing the game for his school, Boys Town and Jamaica.

    Walk good, Dago.

      I have just received from 2 main sources that have outstanding credibility, that former ace (skill in massive quantities - just a little short of the Maestro, himself) Boys Town and National footballer, Herbert "Dago" Gordon - a fine personality - passed this morning. He inspired many in and out of the game and I found him a humble soul, very respectful and who might have needed a little more help -- OMG so many others fit in that slot - in the stewardship of his awesome talent which was also evident in cricket. This is by no means to say that support was not given to him by many but you know what is said about ''special talent." It needs special care and attention. God Bless his relatives and friends and the entire Father Sherlock experience that = Boys Town and those committed to let the dream live on.

        Never saw him play but heard so much about him when listening to the "elders".

        Many said he was as good a cricketer as he was a footballer and clearly had the talent to be a WI test cricketer.

                  There is a legendary story of how he body shifted a defender in a match and the whole grandstand bought the dummy and shifted in their sets too! LoL
