  • Equitorial Guinea Vs Spain

Watching this match and just in awe how EG was holding their own against Spain. This is a country which is almost a 1/4 the size of Jamaica in terms of population, but they play very mature team game.

Well, mos of their players play in the leagues in Spain anyway, so it helps them to have a decent team.

Equatorial Guinea was chosen to co-host the 2012 African Cup of Nations in partnership with Gabon, and won their first game against Libya 1-0 in Group A. The country was also chosen to host the 2008 Women's African Football Championship, which they won. The Women's National Team qualified for the 2011 World Cup in Germany.

          Yes it does take cash.

They had this deal where if they beat Spain, the team would share €5,000,000.
Anyone who scored a goal or assisted on a goal being scored would earn €50,000 & €20,000 respectively.

Any idea of their sources of income?

Oil. Just did a read on them. But the money isn't evenly distributed. What's new. And the government seems of the dictatorial ilk.
