For Schafer, jury still out on Shelton, ‘Tuffy’ Anderson

Winfried Schafer
Reggae Boyz head coach Winfried Schafer is not yet convinced about the overall quality of the country's all-time leading scorer Luton Shelton.
The 27- year-old Shelton has so far scored 35 goals in 75 internationals for Jamaica but hasn't yet won the confidence of Schafer.
“Shelton did not play really good in two matches. So yesterday when I saw Mattock and Brown, they are going one against one… they want their goal.
But I will watch Shelton in the future, maybe in his club on the DVD or YouTube, then I can see whether he has more power to the goal or not,” Schafer commented.
Shelton, who was recently recalled for games against Panama and Costa Rica, has since been omitted for the Reggae Boyz remaining World Cup Qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Schafer has also indicated that top local striker Jermaine "Tuffy" Anderson has some flaws which will have to be ironed out sooner rather than later.
“But he has to learn, and he plays the same against Costa Rica, yesterday the same. He made fouls yesterday, big foul. Maybe the referee said I am going to get you from Panama and give him a red card, and that is what he has to learn. He is a fighter; he is a very very good fighter for us. Maybe he will play the next match for us against Honduras from beginning, then we will see”, Schafer added.
Anderson who was called up for Jamaica's last four World Cup Qualifiers, failed to make the bench for the away game against Panama but played 22 minutes during which he scored the equalizer against Costa Rica last month.
However, he saw just six minutes of action against the United States on Friday.
