  • Seeing Things Differently

The U.S.A. will finish as the top qualifier in CONCACAF & I'm happy for that, BUT I'm also happy that the World Cup is 8 months away because I'm not confident nor comfortable with our standard of play. If we don't improve & draw a strong group, we could see a repeat of '98.

Jamaica, who I wanted to also qualify, disappointed with some weak & lackluster performances and languished at the bottom for most of the Hex, BUT I see posters claiming that they are not far off. Are you serious??? Which game made you think that Jamaica played good football???

The USA is a vastly superior TEAM to the one that

    started in the Hex.

The development of the TEAM has been nothing short of phenomenal. We do not have to put out much effort to remember how the US struggled in its first 3 matches.

When we compare it to our ReggaeBoyz first match against the US and the last ditch goal that spared the USA's blushes and the return match where we were toyed with - played like a cat plays with a mouse. Then the ease with which the US slipped two gears up and destroyed the Reggae Boyz in the spac of 15 minutes - (Should have been 3 goals as the otherwise excellent US defender wide on the left at the back denied his TEAM a goal by not rooling the ball across to Altidore to 'blow on'/tap in to goal. He made a bone-headed REGGAEBOYZ like inept play).

The USA is playing more assured.
    Sharing the ball well.

btw - Was it a coincidence that the USA's play slipped much higher when Donovan left the game?

Just asking...even as I have not changed my pre-Hex thoughts that his attitude shall have Klinsmann leaving him at home.

...and that Dempsey could also be in danger of not making Klinsmann squad to Brazil. "The Duce" also needs to work harder and smarter.

These two guys can make the USA much better if the do all for TEAM and leave egos off the field. ...but as they are currently playing it appears obvious to me that each thinks he is 'better than other squad members'.

Each considers self prima donna. Not good for TEAM playing to its highest...and I am thinking Klinsmann is thinking that is how he wishes it at the World Cup - USA playing to its very highest level. ...cannot have any member even thinking for a second of self before TEAM!

At the World Cup one TEAM member giving less than full effort for a sec. or going on a personal search for glory or to 'look pretty'...to seek fulfillment of ego for a split-sec...can mean a lot ball or a ball not won and a loss!
