Captain Horace Burrell and the JFF by extension, is the single reason why we are where we are now, not Tappa. I am not blaming Tappa for our failures because he was a quick, affordable and temporary fix. Your line of argument is that he should have been given more time because

That's where I disagree because we were getting diminishing returns from Tappa after his weaknesses were seriously exposed in that USA game in the Gold Cup. That's where he started losing the plot. Tappa never imposed his will as a coach. He was also very stubborn in his non selection of certain local talents that took him to the Gold Cup quarters. If Tappa had succeeded in the Gold Cup or even in getting us through the Hex, it would have given Burrell justification that his chosen method of importing the Englishmen and foregoing local development was right.

Brethren reading your post, hurts the brain. What do you make of a malinged aging bush league striker bailing us out ?like the maligned aging midfielder getting us to this round?...ahhh mean is it coincidence the bush ballas keep coming through?...I want you to speak to the mental aspect of football Rafa, Fergie, Mourinho talk about putting a hand around a player talking up belief, where was that from Burell/Tappa regime?... This man finds an unfit malinged striker and starts to build him psychologically?

THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Tappa weakness comes from being in sync with the class system ,as Don said he needed to eat a food his focus was on the individual self not the collective,so he was weak and unfit to lead/build.

        He deserved to be sacked.

The coach have a role to play. Even if the Federation have all the support it needs.

Can you explain what happen to the great Mexico, even with a well supported Federation.

LOL. "Tappa started losing the plot in the Gold Cup against the USA??" That's not sensible... the Gold Cup was where we saw him developing a plot

If Tappa was a "temporary fix"... that itself is damning of the JFF

One doesn't go into WCQ with a "temporary fix"... if one has sense

Today Jamaican ball is ugly, disjointed and ineffective.... plus we're floundering at the bottom of the regional pile. Up to 80% of the starters are relative strangers.... Jamaicans by convenience with passports hot off the print press.

Instead in 2013, for a team we're left mainly with a motley, insipid collection of very average Englishmen (apart from a few exceptions) who know neither how to find the first notes to the Jamaican national anthem... nor the back of the net.

Just like to see some consistency, would a foreigner be a better president of the JFF than our local Burrell?

Depends on the ability & agenda of the foreigner

Perhaps not,Bro Anancy(Jack Warner)for all intents and purposes is a foreigner but wouldn't be..
Besides our genes are spread throughout the Caribbean yet player recruitment does not exist in that region,so my guess it would factor embracing language barrier and yes and the rejects from proverbial underachieving countries..

Arguably Jamaica played its best over a sustained period in the last Gold Cup tournament. Tappa's Gold Cup team may have qualified as 2nd best using the same parameter.

Aside: Interestingly a look at the best single match performance may have been in a 0 - 0 performance at the Orange Bowl, Miami, Florida, USA in the 1998 Concacaf Gold Cup against a Brazil team ranked FIFA #1. The game saw a Jamaica team matching Brazil step for step, play for play in a wide open attacking display. Theodore "Tappa" Whitmore was at his magnificent best. He reduced Brazil's Junior Baiano to thuggery, breaking Tappa's nose and earning Baiano a red card.

The atmosphere in the Stadium was akin to one in 1997 in RFK Stadium in a World Cup qualifier against the USA. You left with the incessant noise of the happy excited fanz ringing in your ears and giddy on soccer/football. The result was a 1 - 1 draw but Jamaica was denied a win by the ref's errant call.
