You know it s really interesting what makes tongues wag on this site. Here is an excellent piece giving good insight Nuff room for thought and conjecture and not a peep out of anyone.

This article gives great insight into what it takes to get to the next level, especially love the part on tactical awareness in the box, position of where the ball is coming from, where the goalkeeper is, position of body in the box relative to goal and relative to incoming ball, the little training tools they talk about in getting his awareness in the box heightened and leading to better outcomes and continued rounds of resetting of goals, dis is what we should be talking about, but maybe is too much work to think about changing and improving process.

There is nothing to argue about!

I think, this is what we should really be arguing about, is it that we have not been able to produce the high level talent or is it that our high level talent is not being optimized. Was Fuller in his prime capable of being a Ronaldo with the right management and team, he had the skills, he had more than a bit of speed, was it just the lack of application and focus on constant improvement that stopped him from being a great player. He is the best player we have produced talent wise in the last thirty years, so did he maximize what he had or could he have achieved a lot more with the right application.

When I look at some of these US players, nothing to really write home about, but they are getting the big bucks, look at this guy from Fulham back to Seattle he is pretty good but nothing there that none of our guys don't have except he is one really determined youth. Much of this I think really come back to goal setting, improvement orientation and proper management and coaxing.

Yes!!! Fuller is one player that could have achieved a LOT more if he was developed & nurtured properly, & there are MANY more what ifs (like Whitmore, Boyd, Lowe, Williams, etc. & that's just from the '98 WC team). The only way Jamaica can change the "what ifs" to "what is" is by getting people who can effectively & efficiently formulate, implement & manage a comprehensive program to develop Jamaica's football. Those in the JFF are obviously NOT capable of doing this, & Jamaica will NOT attract any meaningful sponsorship/investment if you continue with this inept bunch.

            Great read... Wait a moment?

Haven't I been teaching TEAM and all other things shall come to you...for what seems like decades?

            mmmm?
I think I can do a much better job by using this article in my teaching plan...my 'methods'.

            Thank you, sir.
            Saved to my "Football file".

On this site - This discussion (argument?) has been ongoing for quite many years.

              save smarts!

...and the greatest part of those smarts is, Dempsey recognizes that playing TEAM is all what it is about!!!!

Fuller, Shelton and others save "Bibi" think forming the fool to hoped for 'impressing those who know squat about football' is it!!!

Hey no tune change, I say he is pretty good.

Everything has various levels to it. I think first there is just the raw talent piece, which is speed, strength, and body coordination of brain to body and body to brain, that is level one. Fuller to Dempsey on that part, I will take fuller everyday.

The second level is taking what you have and maximizing it, that has a number of different levels to it, discipline being key, vision of the future being key, building relationships, fitting in with the team first and foremost, discipline on the field and more importantly off the field, discipline relative to the opposite sex. Desire, setting goals, constantly pushing oneself, I will take 11 Dempseys, he cares and it shows all the time. So good checking but still the same view at the end of the day with number one being somewhat equal, number two takes the cake when building a team. Give me Dempsey. More consistent Quality and impact with same or less physical talent.

Karl, I tell you what, every aspiring Forward in jamaica should read that story. The message of goal setting, constant improvement looking at the process of how things get done is almost nonexistent. The Spanish have mastered the process of efficiency, body positioning and moving the ball in tight space, that is not talent that is some serious work, training, process improvement with the screw tightened and retightened 100 times.
