Are Ozil and Di Maria going the same way as Robben and Sneijder with Real looking to recoup their £86m?

Real Madrid will look to sell two players before the end of the transfer window to recoup some of the £86million spent on Gareth Bale.
The new world record sum, defended on Sunday by coach Carlo Ancelotti, will spark a desperate bid to offload players such as Arsenal target Angel Di Maria and Germany star Mesut Ozil.
Ancelotti’s defence of the fee came after Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino said: ‘Bale is a good player but the numbers that are being talked about show a lack of respect for the world we live in.’

Instead of Fabregas: Manchester United could be looking at a move for Mesut Ozil

The Italian responded: ‘It was a strange thing to say. He has not been in Europe very long and he will need to learn how his own club works, paying large amounts of money for important players.’
Real’s debt is nearly £516m and buying Bale takes their spending this century close to the £860m mark. They must now do as they did in 2009, when having broken the transfer record twice for Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo and signed Karim Benzema — more than £172m in total — they sold Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder on deadline day.
Neither player desired to leave and the coach at the time, Manuel Pellegrini, wanted both players to stay but his hand was forced. Robben moved to Bayern Munich and Sneijder to Inter Milan.
Di Maria has had assurances from team-mate Ronaldo and president Florentino Perez that he will be kept on but if Arsenal meet the £26m asking price, the Argentine will be told there is no place for him at Madrid. Ozil could find himself in a similar position if Madrid find a buyer.

Decisions: Carlo Ancelotti and assistant Zinedine Zidane will need to offload Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria

Ancelotti admitted he had no idea how Bale would fit into his team, where there are already four players contesting three positions. Ronaldo, new signing Isco and Ozil operate behind Benzema, leaving Di Maria on the bench.

Bale’s introduction will mean Ozil joins Di Maria on the sidelines. Madrid will also look to sell Fabio Coentrao, whom they had hoped would be part of the Bale deal.
After his presentation to supporters on Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabeu, Bale will make his debut next Sunday against Athletic Bilbao. Madrid have been given the lunchtime slot as part of La Liga’s bid to enter an Asian and Far East market dominated by the Premier League.

Heading to England? Arsenal are in the chase to sign Angel Di Maria

The player’s debut will be aired at 7pm in Beijing, at 8pm in Tokyo and Seoul, and at 4.30pm in India to maximise the global audience. Perez feels that, on behalf of Spanish football, he has pinched the pin-up boy of the Premier League; Bale’s face was used to launch BT Sport’s football coverage all summer.
Just how excited local supporters are over Bale’s arrival will be better judged after his presentation. Madrid have been careful not to put the ‘new-player’ stage on the pitch as they did in 2009 for Ronaldo, who was welcomed by 80,000 supporters.
Bale will be presented on a smaller platform by the directors’ box. He is expected to attract a crowd closer to 50,000 but fans have chanted his name at every player presentation this summer.

Gone: When Madrid signed Cristiano Ronaldo they were forced to sell Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben

In last week’s friendly against Al-Sadd, the Bale No 11 shirt was in evidence despite not being available in the club shop. When it officially goes on sale on Tuesday morning, Real Madrid hope demand will show just how eagerly his signing has been anticipated.
On the first day of business back in 2003, Real Madrid claim that they sold 8,000 David Beckham No 23 shirts.
The bar has been set very high.

Would be good if we get these 2 players. Especially Di
Maria as he would be a more effective winger than Ashely Young.

Another great buy. But this would involve giving up Rooney.

Tottenham launch ambitious bid for Chelsea star Mata to replace Madrid-bound Bale after missing out to London rivals for Willian

Tottenham have made a sensational approach for Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata.

The north London club will pocket £86milllion from the imminent transfer of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid and have earmarked Mata as a replacement for the Wales international.

Despite enjoying two fruitful seasons with the Stamford Bridge club, Mata faces playing a bit-part role this season following the £30m arrival of Willian.

Wanted man: Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata (centre) is a target for several clubs, including Tottenham

The Brazilian had already completed a medical at White Hart Lane but opted to join their London rivals, leaving relations between the clubs strained.

But that hasn't stopped Spurs enquiring as to Mata's availability.
Atletico Madrid were the first club to make a move for the 25-year-old and are keen to take the Spain international on loan.

Replacement? Chelsea have signed Willian for £30m, suggesting Mata is not wanted by Jose Mourinho

Atletico lost Radamel Falcao, their talisman from last season, to Monaco over the summer for £50m and have so far struggled to fill the gap he left.
He could also be a replacement for disgruntled forward Adrian who has been linked with a move to Roma.
Mata played 65 minutes of Chelsea's victory over Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge last week having been an unused substitute against Hull on the opening day of the season.
Chance encounter? Mata meets Manuel Pellegrini

He was also linked with a move to Manchester United as part of a deal to take Wayne Rooney the other way but these reports were denied by his club.

And manager Jose Mourinho has reiterated that Mata won’t be sold during the transfer window despite the signing of Willian which sees the Blues well stocked in midfield.

‘It is a crucial department for us,’ he said ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League showdown at Manchester United on Monday night.
‘It is crucial because of the game we want to play and the intensity we want to have. We need alternatives and rotation and we need players to keep that intensity and that dynamic.
‘In this moment it looks like we have a lot but when we get to September — and I am not talking October, November, December, January, I am talking about September — we have the Premier League, the Champions League, the Capital One Cup, a double national team fixture.

‘When this time arrives, 22 players is not a big squad and when you can add more quality it is not a problem. It’s a solution.
‘A problem is for the managers without enough quality in their team.’

I don't know what is happening at MU. As Phelan pointed out last week the problem is the new CEO. There has been rumors about Mata from last week and MU is yet to make a bid? Look at the signings Spurs have made todate?

The new Chairman seems to be drinking from the same Arsenal chalice. Money is not our problem, but he is showing a big disrespect to Everton and other teams with his ridiculous bids. He needs to drop some money to get at least two of this lot - Modric, Ozil, DiMaria and Mata. Fellani can come AFTER he gets one of these playmakers.

Don't be so sure that money is not the problem. Sooner or later, you have to pay the piper. While I agree Manu's current cash flow can service their debt, the owners may be looking at trying to squeeze out a few hundred million in valuation by increasing the bottomline.
