  • Alvas Powell, Ryan Johsnon and Donovan Ricketts

    Go to ESPN 2 now if you're interested in watching them play. All 3 starting tonight for Portland vs. Seattle. Really interested to see how Powell handles the pressure of a game like this. This rivalry is as good as it gets in MLS. Oh and Dempsey's first home game for guys like HL who need an American reason to watch. Stadium is sold out. Massive crowd.
    No need to thank me forumites.

      Alvas has been excellent with his tackling. As usual he demonstrates his inexperience on the tactical side. As good as Ryan Johnson's build up play has been, in the box he needs to do better.

      Ricketts had two episodes of madness already. Otherwise, not much to do.

            Hey those guys trying to kill Alvas with them tackles on the sidelines. Wow Eddie Johnson just ran around alvas like he was standing still.

                Toronto would be just as good if they didn't finish last or second to last every year. LOL

                  Eddie must get by at least once after the youth stopped him dead in his tracks on all other occasions. One aspect of Alvas game that stands out is his one on one tackling.
                  With each game we are seeing less of the wild local JA game tackles and when he does tackle he is taking away possession clean from the attacking player with a high degree of frequency. (compared to Kah and AJB the central defenders who either bulldoze ball and man, or get a foot to the ball.)

                      Bears watching or you will miss history being made.

                      Generally speaking - the MLS?
                      ...all those who back in the days claimed the MLS was...and would be destined to remain "Bush League"...and the USA would never be a world football power, what do you say now? Change of heart?

                          MLS = Mighty Lousy Soccer

                          It's Boring & Mechanical.... but VERY HANDY for scouting & developing RBZ prospects

                            Many of the top teams definitely are not mechanical. RSL, Galaxy, KC, Portland all play with an attractive short pass and move style of football.

                              you can't force people to watch. Many of these people are the same ones who gave MLS no chance at all. "Bush League".

                              The game has gotten a lot better.
