Altidore hat trick powers US comeback win in Bosnia

The US national team’s record-setting winning streak is well intact, and Jozy Altidore’s summer just keeps getting better and better.

Altidore scored three goals and assisted on another in the span of 31 minutes in the second half Wednesday as the Americans rallied from a forgettable start to post a 4-3 win against Bosnia-Herzegovina in an international friendly at Asim Ferhatovic Hase Stadium in Sarajevo.

The US have now won 12 matches in a row dating back to a 4-3 win over Germany on June 2, the longest active winning streak in the world and the longest in USMNT history. The result also marked the first time the Americans have ever rallied from a deficit on European soil to post a win, improving their record to 3-2-1 in Europe since head coach Jurgen Klinsmann took over two years ago.

Guess it's time to alert you now that he's scored against a top 20 team:

Not that he hasn't done it already...

Thanks for the update, BUT I'll remain seated. Let's see how he does in the rest of the Hex, the BPL & the World Cup. Just want to be certain this is "REAL".

20 in 61 for the USA and 38 in 67 AZ Alkmar in the Dutch top league over the past 2 seasons tell you all you need to know.

Red Bulls have done a good job developing Altidore and Aguidelo who is now going to be transferred from New England to Stoke City.

If it did I'd be singing his praises. Obviously you're impressed by the stats you listed, I'll wait until after the WC.

Those stats deserve respect in anyones book. Better players than him have failed in the World Cup so it is no big deal if he is not a hit.

Darn USAF, you are very tough on the kid.

He has answered all your questions so far....no?

I'm "tough" on him because I expect a lot of him. I've been following his career for years & I think he can be a "great" player for us. For the past year he has been in good form & I hope he can maintain it.

He has delivered in the last year for the US and the last 2 years for his club. At one stage I was wondering if he wasn't going to deliver.

He is living up to that potential. I have friends who was with the metrostars telling me about his potential from his days with the academy. You can't ask for more than he has done over the last year.

So World Cup qualifiers are unimportant?
