How comes Rooney, Suarez and Bale all injured all of a sudden?

  • #2
I thought Bale was a done deal? I am curious, can Suarez really sue to get out of his contract? What a backside a court should rule in his favor, every player would now have the option to sue to get out of a contract they agreed to.

Well all 3 a dem are under conract and sulking. They all have their clubs held by the balls. If players don't want to play for you what can you do? If you force them it's pointless because they won't give their best.

So maybe clubs need to rethink the big contracts they offer these players. Then again, there are so many clubs out there a few will always be willing to offer a player a contract to have him on the roster.

The clubs just can't win, the players always get their way in the end. Back in the days before players were so valuable you could let them rot in the reserve for the remainder of their contracts but not anymore!!

you can't put 50 million dollars in reserves. If you are a bit and part player then you see how Chelsea and city sideline them.

The most the club can do is try get a good money and move on.

.... and to think some of us were hoping Rooney would have broken Sir Bobby's goal scoring record. Pity.

...all contracts can be broken. The price - zero to whatever - is the negotiating area that in all cases that must be resolved.

I say sell them if they want to move... I just think the clubs should get a fair market price for the player and, IMO, at £40M(+£1) Suarez is undervalued. That £1 addition to the offer has me thinking that was a little classless, but that's how it goes... they could have made it £2... I can't claim to understand how players are valued but if what i see some unproven players being bought for.. I'd say Suarez is in the £50m range... give or take a few mil.

The transfer market is never the same on each go round...and values of individuals are decided using a combination of objective facts and subjective and intuitive deductions...by each party to the negotiations.

To us on the outside Suarez value should be in the very top range...but the current peculiar circumstances in which Liverpool finds self, I think has thrown a wrinkle in 'pools position.

Arsenal transfer target Luis Suarez tells Liverpool he won't play in any more pre-season games

6 Aug 2013 22:32Striker drove himself home from Melwood after a scan on foot injury that's being blamed for his absence from Norway trip

Never again? Has Luis Suarez worn the Liverpool shirt for the last time?Scott Barbour

Luis Suarez has told Liverpool he does not want to play in any pre-season friendlies until his future is resolved.

Suarez has pulled out of Wednesday night's friendly in Norway against Valerenga, and Liverpool are insisting it is because of a foot injury.

But the striker is determined to force through a move to Arsenal and does not want to be involved as his desire to leave Liverpool becomes increasingly focused.

Suarez was sent for scans by the Reds' medics following training -although he drove himself home from their Melwood HQ.

We understand the Uruguayan's advisers have tried to set a deadline of August 15 for his transfer saga to be completed.

The 26-year-old has insisted he does not want to play in any friendlies between now and then - when the Premier League season starts and he resumes his 10-game suspension for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.

As well as Wednesday's match, the Anfield giants go to Dublin next Saturday for a prestige meeting with Scottish champions Celtic before they open their Prem campaign against Stoke on August 17.

Suarez has also knocked back manager Brendan Rodgers' attempts to hold peace talks, because he is angriest with the Liverpool gaffer and chief executive Ian Ayre over what he regards as broken promises.

The Suarez camp insist there was a "gentleman's agreement" that if any Champions League club came in with an offer of more than £35million, he would be allowed to go irrespective of any clause in his contract.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are certain that the notorious £40m clause in Suarez's contract does not force them to sell.

They also insist he is not for sale and have already rejected Arsenal's bid of £40m plus an extra pound - which the Gunners believed would activate the get-out.

Suarez and his advisers have now taken the next steps by making it clear he does not want to play and, as we revealed, is considering legal action and could also ask for a transfer to force the issue.

Arsenal are very hopeful that a deal can be done with manager Arsene Wenger even suggesting they are looking for an "amicable" solution, although that looks unlikely because of the fall-out between Liverpool and Suarez.

There is a sense at the Emirates that if they can push the Suarez deal through, it will trigger other arrivals as it will show their other big-name targets that they mean business.

Arsenal are still in for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan with Bayern Munich's Luiz Gustavo as a back-up option.

Dortmund do not want to sell, but an offer of £20m-plus may tempt them.
Wenger is also keen, as we revealed in June, on Freiburg's Germany Under-21 international Matthias Ginter as he can play in defence or midfield.

The deadline for signings to be eligible for Arsenal's two-legged tie to decide if they qualify for the Champions League group stages is August 12.

Tottenham director Sir Keith Mills has admitted that they cannot stop Gareth Bale leaving for Real Madrid.
The 63-year-old was pressed on the issue of whether or not Bale would stay at White Hart Lane this summer.
Real Madrid have launched an £85m bid for the Welsh winger and Tottenham are battling hard to improve the deal.

Admission: Sir Keith Mills knows that keeping Bale will be extremely difficult

Mills told the Evening Standard: 'If a player is desperate to leave, it’s very difficult to force him to stay. We’ve seen it in other clubs. Even if he has a contract, you can’t force somebody to play for you.'
Bale arrived at Tottenham's Enfield training complex at 10.30am on Tuesday morning.
Spanish newspaper AS had quoted Bale's agent Jonathan Bartlett as saying his client could stay away from training after Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas claimed he would not be sold to Real.

Making his point: Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas still insists his star man is not for sale
Such a move would have been completely out of character for Bale and Barnett denied speaking to the newspaper.
Bale, who scored 26 goals for Tottenham last year, has not played for Spurs since their first game of the summer - a 1-1 draw against Swindon on July 16.
He missed the club's pre-season tour of Hong Kong because of a gluteal injury and did not travel to their friendly against Monaco after suffering a foot problem.

Bale's new boss? Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti hasn't been shy in announcing his interest in the player

Real coach Carlo Ancelotti revealed last week that the nine-time European champions were in talks with Spurs over the possible signing of Bale.
Having stumped up £33million to sign Luka Modric last summer after weeks of wrangling, Real know all too well how tough a negotiator Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is.
Spurs are said to be demanding a world-record sum for Bale, in excess of the £80m fee the Spanish club paid Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo four years ago.
Unlike team-mates Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas, who have both spoken publicly about Bale's proposed move to the Bernabeu, Ronaldo would not discuss whether he thought such an astronomical fee for the Tottenham star would be good value.
