Why does there seem to be a reluctance, by the JFF, to use/employ qualified & successful Jamaican football coaches/managers/directors, outside of Jamaica, to develop a comprehensive Jamaican football program & coach the national teams???
I think it would be the best fit. They know the Jamaican culture, the people & the strengths and weaknesses of the players.
Can only speak about those in the U.S., but it seems they get more recognition & respect for their qualifications & achievements outside of Jamaica. I just think the JFF is running around the world looking for something/someone that is already there, & they're Jamaicans.

I think in terms of type and quality of play - Bradley Stewart is the real deal. If it were not for our poor strikers his JC teams and his other teams would be World beaters. His teams have always had that 'pass and move/move and pass game' down pat. ..and we are referencing his teams from 1970s through present.

Some claim he is to be credited with our showing in the last Gold Cup. If so, he could not have had a more fitting CV!!! ...certainly after the JFF separated him from Tappa it has all been down hill for the National Senior TEAM, our REGGAE BOYZ, since!!! ...and that is fact!!!

Like it or not, Jamaica was well under way of doing Just what you correctly suggested.

I think a coach is a coach if he or she is good. You are a product of your results and I cant say any of the jamaican coaches coaching in Jamaica would get my vote. They dont have the experience at the highest levels. Now you could say they are Jamacican coaches outside who is qualified but do they have the experience. To counter your argument just look at the u17 U20 and U23 team that is often times coach by the local coaches.

Don't see how that is relevant...not sure what culture haffi do wit football...and a coach worth his salt will determine his own view of player strengths and weaknesses...

For USAF, They do it (i.e. look for "Jamaicans") when it comes to recruiting for players... hmmm

You're right about that one. They'll recruit the Jamaican "students" (the players), BUT not the Jamaican "teachers" (the coaches/managers/directors).

who are the "qualified" one that comes to mind. Not who would do a good job i think they are lots of those. But i dont know many with experience at the pro level or international team level. So if you are gonna say lenny taylor coaching st. Kitts dont do it.. or Lorne who would do well.. but those guys have not gotten major jobs outside of college or mls academies... if you are goning to do that you might as well use the tappas who have higher playing experience and were pros

Did Simoes have any of the qualifications you listed before getting the job with Jamaica???

If they are willing to give a non Jamaican the opportunity to prove themselves, why not do the same for those Jamaicans (like Lenny & Lorne)???

And simoes has not gotten a proper job after Jamaica for the same reasons.

...not know of a *'qualified' Jamaica coach resident outside of the island.

*Qualified: Knowledge [not limited to the very inadequate FIFA. Confederation or FA coaching certificate(s)] and experience.

These FIFA, Confederation and FA certificates are 'out there' like sand grains on sea shore. ...and only a few coaches (period) fall into the 'good coach' category. ...those certs are the symbols of football leaders attitude of 'bullism'! ...as they are no markers of potential coaching ability or level of competence as coach.
