Wilshere: Rooney and Higuain will make Arsenal fearsome again

Jack Wilshere wants Wayne Rooney to join him at the Emirates Stadium and restore Arsenal’s fear-factor.
Rooney, having requested a move at the end of last season, is set to discuss his future this week with new Manchester United manager David Moyes.
If he cannot be persuaded to stay at United, Arsene Wenger is among those ready to make a move, having been cleared to blow the ceiling on the club’s wage structure.

'If it happens it would be amazing,' said Wilshere, when asked about Rooney on espn.com. 'He’s the type of player who can win you trophies - and just to see his name on the team sheet brings fear to the opposition. We could do with a little more of that.”
Wenger’s plan to move for Rooney was exclusively revealed by Sportsmail in May. The Arsenal boss is understood to have been plotting a move since March when he was first alerted to the England striker’s restlessness.
At United, Rooney earns an estimated £250,000-a-week, which is more than double what Arsenal pay top-earner Lukas Podolski but the Gunners are set for what chief executive Ivan Gazidis called an 'escalation in our financial firepower'.

Gazidis will arm his manager with transfer funds of more than £70million this summer and is prepared to negotiate contracts in excess of £200,000-a-week for the right players.
Despite the usual concerns in defensive, Wenger has made it a priority to increase Arsenal’s attacking options.
He will complete the signing of 20-year-old French striker Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre and is close to a deal for Real Madrid’s Argentine international centre-forward Gonzalo Higuain.
It is the pursuit of established stars like Rooney and Higuain which represents a significant shift in transfer strategy and might convince supporters the board is serious about ending the long stretch without a trophy.

'You look at the type of players like Higuain we are trying to bring in and you have got to be encouraged,' said Wilshere. 'I think we need a few more, not to step right into the team, but to add to the squad.
'We need our squad to be as deep as United and City. They can change their back four completely and still win. There is no way United would have won the Premier League trophy with 18 players'
Wenger has also stepped up his interest in midfielder Lars Bender although reports in Germany said Bayer Leverkusen had rejected Arsenal’s initial approach. Johan Djourou looks set to complete a move to Hamburg on loan and Vito Mannone is expected to move to Sunderland.
