  • Football analysts warn JFF to stick with local coaches

Following the sacking of Reggae Boyz head coach Theodore Whitmore, two of the country's top football analysts are advising the Jamaica Football Federation not to give up on local coaches.

Whitmore was asked to resign hours after Jamaica's 2-0 defeat to Honduras last night in a crucial World Cup Qualifier in Tegucigalpa.

Clyde Juridieni, general manager of the Harbour View Football Club, says the entire system needs to be revamped.

But, he says there are a lot of local coaches who are capable of leading the Reggae Boyz.

Former national senior coach Geoffery Maxwell has named himself, Carl Brown and Bradley Stewart as coaches with the knowledge to fit into the current system.

Last night's defeat was the team's fourth in succession and third in eight days.

They stayed bottom of the CONCACAF's World Cup Qualifier with two points from six games.

The top three teams automatically qualify for the World Cup Finals in Brazil, while fourth place will play Oceania champions for another spot.

In other CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers last night, the USA defeated Panama 2-0 in Washington, while Costa Rica and Mexico battled to a goalless draw in the Azteca.

With the victory, the USA moved atop the table with 10 points from five games, two ahead of Costa Rica and Mexico on eight points.

Honduras moved to fourth spot with seven points, while Panama slipped to fifth with six points, four points ahead of last place Jamaica.

    Carl Brown anyone?

...there was at least one call for his return from someone on a call-in sports program.

        Carl Brown indeed!!

He came the closest to qualifying... until his efforts were scuttled.

HL, my friend, that’s what I have been doing since the heady Paul Hall/ Deon Burton/ Robbie Earle/ Fitzroy Simpson days of 1997 and 1998!! I was among those screaming in the stands back in those days, but there comes a time when…. Y’know what, let me stop right here and chill since I have no tangible suggestions to make.
