  • The history of 4th-place finishers in the Hexagonal

In another thread, as per Peter R's request, I posted how many points were required to finish 4th in past Hexagonal campaigns. It looks like this:
    2010: 16 points
    2006: 13 points
    2002: 13 points
    1998: 12 points
Every team that finished 4th in those previous campaigns all had more than 2 points after their first 5 games. Here are the 4th-place finishers and the amount of points they had after their first 5 games:
    2010: Costa Rica, 12 points
    2006: T&T, 4 points
    2002: Honduras, 8 points
    1998: Costa Rica, 7 points
Time for the Boyz to get down to business. History is not smiling on them...

Point taken Muadib but this Jamaica team, administrators included, do not deserve the 4th place spot. At least not at the current time.

Yet we have 5 more games.
        v Hon - 2
        v USA - 1
        v Costa Rica - 1
        v Panama - 1

Represents a maximum total of 15 points.
How many points shall we garner?

        History?
        Is there to be made!!!

Mexico being in 1st place doesn't mean much when you consider they've played one more game than the two teams they're currently tied with.

We appreciate the data on the 4th place finishers throughout the years but the points for the 1st through 3rd place finishers would give a better understanding of how close or tuff the going is this qualifying campaign.

You miss the point.. this is a low scoring Hex to this point.. this has to be factored in...

Jamaica with only 3 points would smash all 4th place finishes. The probability of getting a 4th place finish is not zero (0); but I would not bet the house. A six pack of Red Stripe?....maybe.
