  • Just five teams now competing for three regional automatic

To start breaking down the CONCACAF standings after Friday’s regional results, the best place to start is here: Jamaica is out.

Not officially so, but you know. Sorry about that, Reggae Boyz. You guys are fun to have around, but things look pretty bad for you, mon.

The Jamaicans, who last qualified for a World Cup in 1998, have a scant two points from half of their final round matches. They would probably need 12 or 13 of a possible 15 points going forward just for that fourth spot, the berth that leads into a play-in series. Not. Gonna. Happen.

    Friday’s scores went like this:

United States 2, at Jamaica 1
    Mexico 0, at Panama 0
At Costa Rica 1, Honduras 0
Honduras sits just above Jamaica, fifth of sixth. But don’t be fooled; they have ample opportunity to make up points. The Catrachos have already played the two regional powers at home – and they picked up four of a possible six points against Mexico and the United States. Those are big points.

Further, they face a potentially dispirited Jamaica on Tuesday – check that, potentially devastated – and could quite possibly be right back in the thick of things about 96 hours from now.

Costa Rica looks to be in great shape atop the group, but they still have visits ahead from Mexico and the United States, plus a tough trip into Honduras. So, the Ticos still have plenty of work ahead.

As for Mexico … well, let’s save that one for another post. Lots to say there.

Here are the standings after four rounds:

Its clear from all the games that only a goal separate the teams, all the teams still have a shot at qualification.

Erm Karl one thing. The Prof. did not lose one game at the office. The most opponents could wish for at the office was a point. Now based on data and calculations (seeing that Rboyz is coming with the same game) Every team is coming to KGN for their three points.

I know I'm a fool and don't know the game but why can't Mattocks START! This kid is sitting there with Ja's three points on his boots and being constantly ignored. I watched Austin (man of the match) battling and giving his all to no avail. If Mattocks wa out there the warrior (Austin) would walk away proud today.

BTW Karl I could recall waaay back when we both kept telling the board that Hue is not suited to play against the US. I guess they had to literally see it for themselves. A leader is a stubborn and a person that refuses to listen to critics. Prof.Simoes caught hell in Ja but palyed Bibi and qualified Ja in 98. I ache to speak about Rbouz at this point. Truly.

          Reverse order:
Well Mosiah said Hue was not up to his, Mosiah's, standard.

Mattocks - If he is played (start or sub) he must play farthest forward - straight off the backs of the opponents center-backs.

'98 v 2014 - Make history. Win on the road more often than in The Office. No other way!!! - The TEAMs are not that far apart such that it is not a possibility.

In contention for a top three spot? I don't think so. We have a shot at fourth, though. This is as public a place as I would admit that, seeing that I am among "friends" ( I don't think that many people read the forum). To achieve any future success this campaign the coach and the team HAVE TO FIRMLY and GENUINELY believe that they are still in it, i.e. for a top three finish

That way, we might get that playoff spot.
