Thats a good one now Gerrad, Lamps and Rooney are medicore .Roy plans to draw his way to Brazil !
THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

Rooney only effective when you have others to create. Lamps and Gerrard has consistently failed at the international level. Neither of them are great ball holder s but depend on others to be creative offensively.

In my opinion Zaha, Weshsire and Ince are the kind of players England have to develop before they can talk about achieving anything. The game with Rooney, Gerrard and Lampard are too predictable at this stage.

Got you now they are mediocre and Hodgson needs time to build his team..lol or his doesnt have the luxury of a transfer market to build his team...wow ...what an Xcuse if only Capello had thought of that .

How long was Capello the coach for again???

the fact is you calling two 3 odd year old players who play best off rebounds and slipping through the midfield, and another who have disappointed in every competition he was expected to take the lead.

So that absolves Hodgson ? he funtions under the same system as Capello , the arguemnt is Hodgson should be a better coach because of his history ? it sure as hell cant be because he is english , the train of thought is Hodgson will not dissapoint .

you have to give Hodgson the chance to fail right? So far he hasn't failed yet.

Lineker fi go sidung, England have looked a better coached and organized team for the first time in years. In my opinion Roy Hodgson is doing as good a job as anyone could've done at this moment in time. Criticism for an England manager is nothing new, that is par for the course. Every manager have had it and every future manager will.

Where did you see Rio criticize Roy? Stop making up stories!! Samuel have criticized every manager since Terry Venables so that is not new.

                        And Terry Butcher?

Terry Butcher on England: Forget Gary Lineker's 'Dark Ages' talk - we can beat Brazil!

                        2 Jun 2013 07:30
Former Three Lions skipper doesn't buy into Gary Lineker's 'Dark Ages' view - he thinks England are on the cusp of something special

Trash talker: Terry Butcher doesn't agree with Lineker's 'Dark Ages' jibeMirrorpix

Last Wednesday night, via Twitter, Gary Lineker launched his new flavour of Walkers crisps.
They’re called: “Talking Mince and Tripe,” after his comments following England’s friendly draw with the Republic of Ireland.
Lineker’s crisp, cyber space comments that England took a “step back to the dark ages of two lines of four,” were cliched, well wide of the mark and showed a lack of tactical and professional understanding.
I know Gary very well and both of us have played in end of season friendlies where commitment, sharpness and desire are well below the levels of the previous ten months.
If anything, the Irish were medieval in their approach to the game in that they never had a decent effort on England’s goal apart from Shane Long’s superb first-half header, and were intent on remaining undefeated at the final whistle.
I actually enjoyed the game and performance from Roy Hodgson’s men, but there still remains a frustration that England do not kill off the opposition when dominating possession and creating clear cut chances.

Not dark yet: Former Three Lions skipper Butcher took plenty of positives from the Irish friendlyMichael Regan - The FA

However, it was really encouraging to see England getting in behind the Irish defence on countless occasions with some sharp passing and movement - nearly always involving Wayne Rooney - only to see such clever approach play let down by poor finishing and disappointing final balls.
It was a game that England should have won comfortably, but, as I have said before, there was an edge missing to the finishing and crossing in particular.
Gary naively appeared to be of the opinion that Hodgson played with a 4-4-2 system but Rooney’s role was more of a link between the midfield and attack, and his understanding with Michael Carrick was extremely pleasing and creative.
The play leading up to the Irish penalty area was generally slick and quick, yet it was at both ends of the pitch where England were at their poorest.
Long’s opener for the visitors highlighted England’s fragility at the back, with Glen Johnson and Gary Cahill getting in each other’s way to give the West Brom striker a free header on goal.
With only one clean sheet in the last five matches, a strong defensive display today against Brazil would certainly boost confidence for those in front of Joe Hart.
Phil Jones looked a better bet at right back after the break but Hodgson could well do with the Manchester United defender at centre half as well, as Cahill looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Maracana man: Butch reckons Theo might 'do a John Barnes"Shaun Botterill

Ironically, England have two excellent left backs - in Ashley Cole and Leighton Baines - and a real problem at right back but the Irish never really seized the initiative to have a go at the home team’s vulnerability.
If there is a weakness at the back in any team, then attack is the best form of defence and both Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have enough pace and trickery to cause Brazil a few problems in the Maracana today.
Yet, they will also have to track back a long way to contain a Brazil side that will still be smarting from their defeat at Wembley back in February.
Hodgson goes into this fixture with many key men, like Jack Wilshere, missing and injuries to his main strikers.
But the situation was even bleaker for Sir Bobby Robson when he took a fledgling Three Lions out to South America in 1984.
Yet Sir Bobby’s England side beat Brazil 2-0. So, I wonder, who will prove to be the modern day John Barnes and lead England out of the so-called “Dark Ages” and into the light this time? They have a golden opportunity.
