  • Bundesliga Relegation Playoffs: Hoffenheim Stays Put

Hoffenheim successfully defended its place in the Bundesliga with a 2-1 win (5-2 aggregate) over Kaiserslautern of Bundesliga 2 in the second leg of the relegation playoffs.

Hoffenheim won 2-1 at Borussia Dortmund in the last game of the regular season to climb from automatic relegation to the playoff. Hoffenheim had to survive a last-minute goal by Dortmund which was not given that would have dropped Hoffenheim back into automatic relegation.

Today, Osnabruck of Liga 3 takes a 1-0 lead into Dynamo Dresden of Bundesliga 2. Dynamo Dresden has one of the most violent fan bases in Germany. The repeated outbreaks of violence by Dynamo Dresden's fans has caused the German FA (DFB) to ban the team from competing in next year's
    DFB Cup.
