  • James Vaughan still waiting for Reggae Boyz call

Huddersfield striker James Vaughan says he is still anxiously awaiting the opportunity to make his debut for Jamaica's Reggae Boyz, after a solid season for the English Championship Division team.

The forward, a teammate of recently recruited Reggae Boy James Beckford, has scored 14 goals in 33 appearances for the club, and been a crucial part of their bid to stay in the division. However, despite being listed in the original list of those to be recruited, along with Beckford, Jobi McAnuff (Reading), Gareth McCleary (Reading), Lloyd Doyley (Watford) and Marvin Elliot (Bristol City), according to the player, there has been no solid contact made.

    good things

"There has been talk of them looking at me, but no more than that, though I would love to be involved," Vaughan told UK publication Vital Huddersfield (www.huddersfield.vitalfootball.co.uk).

"I know how much sport means to the people over there, and it would be fantastic to be a part of it.

According to Vaughan, reports from Beckford, who has also been in good form in Huddersfield, despite being hampered by a hamstring injury, have peaked his interest and he is looking forward to being involved.

"Jermaine came back and had nothing but good things to say about his experiences, and it would be brilliant to get a call."

Jamaica's Reggae Boyz may well be eyeing a boost to their forward line having found themselves at the bottom of the six-team CONCACAF Hexagonal zone, with three games gone. The team will, however, look to get back on track with positive results against Mexico, United States, at the National Stadium and Honduras in upcoming games.

Nothing can't go so, is what this i am reading? Theo Robinson get call, Jermaine pon 1 leg get call and someone with the pedigree of Vaughan still sit there waiting for a call. The JFF can't be serious about qualifying for a world cup. I thought the youth was just waiting for his passport.

He is going to have to apply to FIFA for a change of eligibility since he has played for England at the youth level. If the JFF hasn't contacted him as yet, he probably will not be eligible to play for Jamaica until September.

It is quite amazing that the best of all the recruits has been the least recruited.

Sometimes i wonder if they do their homework on players or they just throw names in a hat. When me say dem come and pick up Theo Robinson i knew it was just a guessing game!
