  • Ryan Johnson stats for 2013

Eight games, four goals, two assists.

.75 goal contribution rate per game, wicked start, will be tough to hold that level for the season but not impossible.

He has Darlington Nagbe and Diego Valeri, two of the most creative players in the Americas supplying him with opportunities, so he will get ample opportunities to maintain his strong start. Will all come down to his finishing.

Yes, I have watched them two or three times this season and I really find myself enjoying the Portland mls experience both the on field play and the totally engaged fandom.

Hmmm...so maybe if he and our other strikers had good service from midfield their World Cup stats would begin to look attractive as well?!

        Just a thought!

Too logical. Cut it out. We must win the battle in the trenches. Creativity is overrated.

Sure he would score more often for Jamaica with improved good service . He has to work too hard on defense as we are not excellent there. Now bringing in a player who would destroy the 'half-way defense' we current have...reducing it to 'zero defense'...would have Ryan working even harder on defense. ...and too often he would be on defense when needed up-top! =greater number of losses!!!

I think you guys have been off the field too long and forget that football is first and fundamentally a physical game. The first battle for the hearts and souls of the opposition is in the trenches of the midfield, he who controls the mids should win the game.

Where is our weakness on defense.. surely not with all those English players and 2 Defensive midfield players...

I hear we had more possession than Costa Rica... what happened ?

You tell...besides in Mex we have allowed goals. Suggested defense leaked...right?

Well I ask you to take a look and see where in each of those games the ball was lost and our efforts at regaining same?

Granted players available to us...not much we can do and I have already given what I think should be done.

                              Let me repeat:
                              i) Have us wielded into TEAM wherein all players work continuous on defense and attack. No place for slackers.

*Currently the slackers seem to be Jobi, Gareth, Jermaine Beckford. They give less than full effort in our matches...and at times particularly Jobi and Jermaine to be disinterested during matches in while playing.

...also too often try to 'go it alone'=anti-TEAM!

ii) Shelton needs to pass and move, move and pass more often...always look for that play which is in teams best interest. Forget that trying to go it alone...it is not working/has not worked.

Still believe he could be a good forward if he uses commonsense.
He should view that last Champions League match Barcelona v Bayern and fix his attention on Thomas Müller.

We know he is a great TEAM man - movement and passing/passing and movement - and forward but take in his work as defender. He was absolutely great on defense!!! Shelton would be much improved if he aped
                              Thomas Müller.

iii) Work on passing and movement/movement and passing at greater speed/pace.

Just that and we would be 100% better TEAM.

iv) If goals are needed in a match - gamble on Hue upfront if nothing else works...with TEAM-mates instructed to pass directly to his feet...NO PASSES FOR HIM TO CHASE!!!!
