another way to look at it is great defense win games.

Possession is very, very important...but in and of itself is never the complete story/answer.

Bayern forced Barcelona to have only few good looks at the Bayern goal. As I remember it, 3 times only Barcelona was within sniffing distance of Bayern's goal and each time hounded out of taking a shot.
      1. Final pass (to Messi) cut out

      2. Ball across area that the Brazilian center-back put behind for a corner

      3. The guy who could not complete his circular movement on the ball and hit it for six (...think fear of being closed down had him lose composure and trying the shot before getting into proper position relative to ball and goal...took that shot waaaaaay too early).

mmmm???...now I think of it, wasn't there another ball across the Bayern goal????

      ---------

...and on the other side, Bayern should have had a penalty; Robben failed to pass for tap in and took crazy shot, and there were 2 good saves by the Barcelona 'keeper when it appeared it was sure goal...

didn't see the game but Laham is quality. Don't know much about Alaba still.

Had to google him after seeing his performance. Alaba is a revelation.
