There are great players out there that are value for money who are better than the Cavani's of this world. All they need is a better team and manager to work with!

YES...if he thinks they are worth it. He spent BP36m on Berbatov then sold him for much less even though he won the Golden Boot. What the management of the Empire understands is that it takes cash to remain at the top, and being at the top will inevitably generate more income. Can you imagine if we were to get back Ronaldo? As it stands right now, sponsors are literally lining up to hitch their prodduct to the Manchester united brand, begging us to take their money.

Where the money went: Premier League prize and TV payments for 2011-12

Manchester City sealed the 2011-12 Premier League title in the most dramatic fashion on Sunday, and now know the precise financial reward for the season from Premier League central funds: £60,602,289.
The massive sums on offer for simply being a member of the Premier League are highlighted again below with the release of official figures detailing League TV and merit earnings for each club for the 2011-12 season.
Clubs have three main revenue streams: match day income (from tickets, corporate dining etcetera), media income (of which the payments listed are the largest but not the only part) and commercial income (from kit deals, sponsorship, merchandise, tours and so on).
The lowest-earning team in 2011-12 from central funds, Wolves, picked up £39,084,461 while City’s cross-town rivals, United, were the second best-paid team with £60,325,337. This is the second year the £60m barrier has been broken for the top-earning teams, after last year.
RELATED STORY: It’s the economy, stupid! How money fuels glory in the Premier League
Every club got £13,788,093 as an equal share of domestic TV income, plus £18,764,644m as an equal share of foreign TV income. The Premier League’s income from overseas TV rights alone 2010-13 inclusive was £1.437bn (£439m a year). Rights are now up for auction for 2013-16.
In the central payments for 2011-12, facility fees – £485,000 per live TV match in the UK plus bits and pieces for net, phone and delayed rights – varied depending how many times each club featured in live matches, between a minimum of 10 times and a maximum of 26.
Each place in the table was worth £755,062 in prize money, with that amount going to the bottom club (Wolves) and 20 times that amount (£15,101,240) going to City.
The biggest winners and losers, year on year in terms of improved and decreased payments were Newcastle and Aston Villa respectively. Newcastle’s total money went up £7m from £47.2m to £54.2m, while Villa’s went down £7m from £49m to £42m. See table below for full details, and compare with previous seasons: Payments for 2010-11 / Payments for 2009-10
‘Parachute’ payments were made to seven former League clubs, with Birmingham, Blackpool and West Ham each getting £15,475,005 to assist their landings in the Championship. This money helped all three to make the play-offs, with Blackpool facing West Ham on Saturday for the right to return to the PL (Promised Land).
The ratio in central earnings between City at the top and Wolves at the bottom is 1.55 to 1.

Spend the money and try to win something and the money will roll in. Arsenal already have a big worldwide fan base which will get bigger when you all start winning something.

Speculate to accumilate. It is well documented that Arsenal did not have the money to spend over the past few years but now there is so funds, however Arsene doesn't seem like the type of guy who would spend 50 million on 1 player.

Paul, i have to be fair to Manchester United. They run their club properly and spend what they can afford because they have the income to go and buy big, however Chelsea and the rest have their sugar daddies!!

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud will serve a three-game ban after he lost an appeal against his red card in Saturday's 1-0 win at Fulham.

The 26-year-old France international was sent off late on for a foul on Stanislav Manolev but claimed he slipped as he went for the ball.

A Football Association independent regulatory commission rejected his claim for wrongful dismissal.
He will next be available on the final day away to Newcastle.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists he is pleased with Lukas Podolski’s first season in north London but admits the forward has struggled mentally and physically in the second half of the campaign.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

The Germany international has scored 14 times for the Gunners since his summer switch from Cologne but has frequently been substituted before the 90-minute mark.
Podolski has been used on the left flank by Wenger and the Frenchman admits the 27-year-old has struggled to adapt to the physical demands of playing out wide in the Premier League.
Wenger also believes the lack of a winter break in England has come as a shock to Podolski.
“He had a good start [to the season], a very strong start,” said Wenger. “After that, he suffered a little bit physically and mentally because in Germany they have a break in mid-season.

“We have seen with many German players that when they come in for the first season, mentally they suffer a little bit. Now he has recovered and is getting stronger again.
“On the flanks is the most demanding position. Physically, especially in England, it’s very tough.
“He’s a striker. Many times we were in a position where we were in a winning position in the final 20 minutes and then I take a bit more of a guarantee defensively and take him out of the team sometimes.”
