  • Karlsruhe: Two Big Games On One Webcast

Daniel Gordon's Karlsruhe, leading the German Liga 3 with 69 points, has a showdown match Saturday at third-place Pruessen Muenster with 65 points.

And just down the road from Muenster, second place Arminia Bielefeld, with 67 points, hosts fifth-place Heidenheim on 61 points. All five teams have played their catch-up games, and have five games remaining on the schedule.

The two games will be simulcast at 7 am Jamaica and US Central time on www.swr.de, the website of a German TV station. SWR will be switching between games and switch immediately whenever a goal is scored.

Did that team you mentioned the other day declare bankruptcy? From your post looks like your team is in a good place

The team I was referring to was Alemannia Aachen, who are in last place in Liga 3.

Alemannia Aachen has now found enough money to finish the season. Had AA folded, all results would have been voided and any points won against AA would have been deducted.

Aachen went all-in on a beautiful new 32,000-seat stadium named Tivoli Gardens a few years ago, and it has not worked out. You might want to Google or Wiki New Tivoli Stadium Aachen for the pictures , because of the yellow color scheme.

Had AA ceased operations, Karlsruhe would have lost four points and dropped to second place.

Pruessen Muenster, now solidly in third place (promotion playoff) would have lost six and dropped to fifth.

Another team, Bablesberg, would have lost six points. Bablesberg won a catch-up game this week to climb out of the relegation zone for now. The loss of six points would likely have doomed Bablesburg to relegation.

The German FA (DFB) has now included Liga 3 as part of the TV package that includes Bundesliga 1 (the big time) and Bundesliga 2. DFB is also toying with the idea of finding a naming sponsor for Liga 3 , such as the Coca-Cola League in England.
