He has been one of Jamaica's most consistent players over the past 3 years. And he is a threat in the attacking third, exactly what you need from a modern full back!

If you are marked out of the game it doesn't matter how much speed you have. That is the very first basic in defending. Demar can't read the game defensively as Taylor can. Taylor is a very good header of the ball.

Nothing to debate about. Demar is better offensively.
Only players having a mental lapse can be maked out of a game. It is in today's game...any game with half-way good players...impossible to prevent a player from getting as many chances/or being as effective as his TEAM wishes to afford him/her!

He is a better left back than Taylor, so Taylor out, Phillips in

Maudib, Demar Phillips performances over the past 3 years stand up to scrutiny so why would you want to move a right footed centre back over to left back when we already have a capable left back. square peg in round hole comes to mind!!

What I would like to see is Tappa trusting Hue to run the middle.

It depends on what the coach's tactics/strategy is for the game. Demar as a defender is not in the same class as Jermain Taylor whether Demar has better "speed over ground, speed of thought or speed of feet" or not. On the other hand, if you want to play a more attacking game and would like to have your wingbacks getting into the action when we attack, then Demar would be your man.

In a situation where you have speed of the Panamanian right wingers coming at you, I would opt for Taylor or Doyle. Tylor plays good intelligent defense and does not always put himself in a position to take on people in foot races. If and when he has to, he can hold his own. Of course speed would be an asset, but when you do not have it, you make up for it with intelligent play. Who can forget the tackle Taylor did on the Mexican forward (was it Guardado?) where he ran down the player and executed a perfectly timed tackle to just get the ball out of the Mexican's reach before he could tee up his shot.

I have nothing against Phillips as I think he is a wonderful player as well. I just have to say it is not always about speed. . .

Assassin fully agree with you Demar is not in the same class with Taylor as a defensive player, he is a stop gap d player that helps with offense. Taylor is a legitimate fundamental defensive player who understands the game and on his good day can be a dominant player.

Hue is our Luka Modric. Have the work horses around him and now that we have some "sensible" forwards who can mek good runs, then we good.
