Wanderers Football Club was slapped with a three-year suspension and fined $30,000 following a brawl that prematurely ended a game against Tru-Juice FC in the St Catherine Football Association/LIME Major League competition at Passagefort playing field on March 2.

The game ended prematurely after a penalty kick was awarded to Tru-Juice by referee Jermaine Douglas in the 58th minute. The Wanderers players disputed the decision and a brawl broke out.

Abusive language was hurled at the game official following which, the official was physically attacked.

The assistant referee went to help his colleague but was also physically attacked by more players. Douglas was said to have sustained injuries during the fracas. Several Tru-Juice players were also attacked and injured during the incident.

The Disciplinary Committee of the St Catherine FA, headed by chairman Lincoln 'Happy' Sutherland, subsequently met and passed their ruling last Wednesday. They also suspended Wanderers' executive body including Raam Narasingh, Michelle Narasingh, Patrick Cockett, Dujohn Kennedy and Garnet Lawrence for three years.

    Reimburse the referees
Wanderers were charged to reimburse the referees group for damage to gear and equipment and also medical expenses incurred by the referees and some Tru-Juice players.

Tyrone Roberts, coach of Wanderers, has been suspended for one year and fined $10,000 for his role in the brawl. His assistant, Jeffrey Bowen, has been suspended for three years.

Six Wanderers players were suspended for five years each, while other players from the Edgewater, Portmore-based club were handed a 15-month bans apiece. The six players are - Nicholas Warren, Kimouy Kirlew, Andrew Crawford, Mikhail Robinson, Delroy Small and Roger Bucknor.

The other players banned for 15 months are Aldean Beckford, Andrew Mendez, Arckee Collins, Barrington Allen, Dean Austin, Dwayne Small, Earnest Morgan, Javane Taylor, John Savage, Jordane Green, Kirk O'Sullivan, Nico Darby, Odeanny Black, Ricardo Johnson, Romarios Riley, Shamari Rowe and Shea John.

Andrew Richardson, Roy Dunstan and Shamari Shaw, also of Wanderers, have been suspended until December 31.

I found myself just ing... and ing... and ing about this incident.

I have a feeling that the banned players will eventually turn-up playing for another team anyway. Just that the local level of enforcement won't hold up.....
