  • Singapore Football League

Attendances in the Singapore league are so low the players have started going round knocking on doors to try to entice new fans to matches. They average 932 spectators a match.

...what is the average attendance at a NPL and MLS game?

Maybe Singapore can learn how the MLS and NPL rake in the crowd.

You may not be aware that MLS is actually the 8th most attended league in the world, ahead of every latin american country except Mexico and ahead of most European countries. When you consider that 4 of the top 8 positions are taken by Germany, England, Spain, and Italy, the MLS's attendance record of 18k people a game is pretty amazing considering they are the youngest of the top 20 leagues in the world; plus, look at how some of these fans cheer their teams on...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcbkcTVg32s

        NPL? I don't think so.

MLS has more attendees than the top leagues in Brazil & Argentina?

I estimate in 4-6 years, MLS will rank in the top 4. In 10 years #1 or #2 based on the overall MLS business model...'specially in marketing.

I agree with you H, but maybe for a different reason. The European leagues are glorified Sports entertainment with predictable results a la professional wrestling. This is due to rampant corruption and match fixing. Corruption and match fixing in American professional sports are less prevalent due to robust oversight and severe legal ramifications. People will start seeing those leagues for what they are and will gravitate to one, the MLS, that has more sport than entertainment. I stopped watching the EPL years ago.

Without a doubt, the growth and success of the MLS and football in the USA has been fantastic!

                  Kudos to all involved!
