Skrtel looks set for Anfield departure after breakdown in relations with Rodgers

Martin Skrtel has paved the way for leaving Liverpool this summer after hinting at problems in his relationship with Brendan Rodgers.
The Liverpool defender has not started a Barclays Premier League game since being dropped following the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on January 13 and was criticised by Rodgers after an underwhelming performance against Oldham in the FA Cup.
Skrtel is currently sidelined with a knee injury but, even if he was fit, the Slovakia international does not believe he would be in Rodgers’ plans and says his situation will need to be looked at in the summer if he remains out of the side.

Tough times: Martin Skrtel has found his playing time limited at Liverpool

‘We have (spoken) but it is not ideal,’ Skrtel told Denik Sport, when asked if he had received an explanation for being out of the team. ‘He (Rodgers) told me something on this, gave me some explanation, but it’s hard to tell if it was the true reason he gave me.
‘I don’t think it was and think there is something else behind it. Anyway, I’m not the type of player who would be chasing the coach and be in his office all the time, asking for explanations why I’m not playing. I have never done this, I’m not doing it now and I never will be.
‘If the coach wants to tell me something, he will summon me. The coach has his ideas about the line-up and the question is if I would be in it if I was fit. I would say it’s likelier I wouldn’t.’

Fall out: Skrtel is likely to leave Liverpool in the summer after being criticised by manager Brendan Rodgers (below)

Liverpool are set to be in the market for at least two central defenders this summer – Rodgers watched Feyenoord’s Stefan De Vrij on Sunday – given that Jamie Carragher is retiring and it is likely that Sebastian Coates will be also be allowed to leave in order to get first team football.
But Skrtel, who only signed a new contract last summer, could also go and he has been linked with Anzhi Machachkala and his old Zenit St Petersburg. He has refused to quell the idea he will move on.
‘For three years at Liverpool I was playing in almost every match and even in the national team I have played a lot of games,’ said Skrtel. ‘I have had various thoughts but certainly I’m not going to make any hot-blooded decision.’

THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

What more sign do you want to know we have a certified fool running the club, a bastion under Rafa, Hodges and Daglish is relegated to the bench .

Of all the youth coach buys , only Sturridge looks like a good buy , i believe if given a 100 mil to spend , 10 million would be spent on a good purchase the rest will be flops i quote (Welsh Alonsos').

Give me Laudrup !send the madman back to swansea.

Looks like Rafa has some problems too.... but after reading the article the headlines are a little sensational; seems like the discussion was not that unfriendly between Rafa and the players... The players though looking to rest on last year's laurels...

X, so it was Rodgers fault that Skrtel made the error in the Mancity game at Anfield gifting them a draw? What about the second City game, Skrtel again in the mixup...I suppose that was Rodgers fault as well? And as for the Zenit game...Rodgers screwed up the back pass by Carragher?

Regardless, you need to learn the "Liverpool Way"...we don't do this to our peeps...you may not be happy with his management, you may not even like him, but you don't call one of our own "a certified fool" in front of the "enemies" that loiter on this board. You can call Slurgie that, Wenger that, Mancini all of them, but not our manager, no matter how bad it is. When he leaves, maybe, but not now.

Anyway, Rodgers may not be the right man for the long term, but there are certainly enough people supporting him to keep him in the job for now. Ultimately, if he is replaced, you can't fault him for not trying his best...which football manager in his situation wouldn't have taken the chance to manage Liverpool if it was extended to him? Having ambition is not a "fool's errand"...quite the opposite...it's quite smart.

Lastly, it perplexes me as to how you can berate Rodgers and give Rafa's clear and present screwups a pass. He has the WORST record of any Chelsea manager in the Roman Abramovich era with arguably the best squad in the Premiership; how come you don't blame him for poor results yet you blame Rodgers? If Rodgers was running that club with the same results, it appears to me that you would be crying him down, or maybe not? If not, why not? I hope you are not letting personal emotions get in the way of objectivity.
