  • Seems like Trinidadian Football is....

    ...gone to the dawgs.

You get rid of JacK 'the ripper' Warner--you get rid of football in Trinidad. Simple as that!

    Oh, BTW...Jamaica is not immune!
The only time TRUTH will hurt you...is if you ignore it long enough

That is EXACTLY what the problem is/was with TT football, JW made himself what football is/was in TT ...(selfish, arrogant) and so NOTHING was left for football itself... such is/was the nature of the man.

No matter what he said, it was never at the end of the (proverbial) day about football but about "himself".

Maybe now without a demagogue, football has a chance in TT.

Some people think Jack was the best thing for CONCACAF, esp. countries like T&T and Jamaica.

He was all that and more...but he had a passion for the game that drove advancement in all areas of the industry in T'dad and the entire CFU region.

          ...and that is fact!

I have always thought for any unit or entity the person with the vision and drive must be restrained...have around him strong person or persons to provide "check(s) and balance(s)".

We all have our faults. Sure, faults differ. ...however, the environment within which we operate must have/exerts influence on actions taken and to be taken...directions we go!

Regardless of circumstance those around "Jack" must have been complict in direction taken during his reign. Those persons must take responsibility for then actions taken and outcomes of same.

Karl, the real measure of a successful enterprise of any kind is whether that enterprise itself has the systems, processes and core values that transcend any one individual. For example, assassinate the president of a country which functions on the basis of law, order and due process, life the next day goes on "as normal"; assassinate a totalitarian dictator, and the next day all sh!t breaks loose. Warner was a two bit dictator. He had every opportunity to establish a lasting, strong and enterprising football program in T&T and the region, but chose to line his own pockets first. I am glad he is gone.

yeah but like many countries with dictator, everybody make noise but can't pick up the leadership when them gone.

No reason Jack should have had so much unchecked power. You want tell me big bad US, Canda and Mexico also fell in line?

                  Agree FULL 100!

...and herein is the inherent inbedded 'fault-line'..."two bit dictators" or dictators of any ilk are "made" by supporters. It matters not the "leaders" intentions...resolve...if those who follow refuse so to do...

                  ...then?

...to survive the then "would be dictator" must bend!

"Jack" had his passion but his lackey sub-set ensured his 'merry dance'! There is nothing that suggests that "Jack's" passion..even quest for "self-fulfillment/need for 'self-aggrandisement' would not them have driven him to his acknowledged worthy accomplishments or that lacking the power to 'do as he pleased' would not have driven him to accomplish even more than that he did.

Same thing when we had a Seaga in charge...or as some claimed 'a dictator Burrell' at the helm. These men are only as powerful as the lackeys allow!

Sass, Therefore what does that tell you? A logical (and quite likely) conclusion is that ALL OF FIFA administrators at a certain level are complicit in the corruption that was/is demonstrated by the manner in which Mr Warner, Bin Hamman et al conduct/ed/s football "business".

Remember as Karl said, Mr Warner was very astute and organized every single little bitty island to become members of FIFA and as you know FIFA runs on the one member country one vote "principle" so that even lowly Montserrat with barely a five thousand people population has the same clout as Brazil. So when the CFU headed by Mr Warner turns up with 25 votes in CONCACAF (and for FIFA) THAT is power...

Assasin! Paul is talking about the state of football in T&T, where Warner had free reign to do what he wanted with that federation and went unchecked. With CONCACAF, he did not have that kind of freedom to run other countries federations.

However, because of the number of votes in FIFA that he controlled (in the CFU) he was a king maker or breaker...

As you pointed out: He operated like a dictator.
And the first thing a dictator does is make sure that he takes care of those who can destroy or stop him, so that he has free reign to do as he pleased: A dictator first takes care of the military/security force; Jack gave CONCACAF more prominance in FIFA.

Do not hide from facts USAF...Jack wagged the entire CONCACAF. It was a falling out with '....' that caused his immediate downfall! ...and friend Blazier was just as much a '...' as Jack!!!

Karl, What USAF says I believe to be true.... JW rewarded those around him with positions in key roles (and maybe otherwise?) and of course your comment is also true ( I am guessing)... a falling out can mash up de dolly house.
