  • Reggae Boyz Need King

    THE EDITOR, Sir:

I am wondering if there is anything that could be done about getting Marlon King out of retirement to come back and represent the Reggae Boyz in the qualifiers to shore up the front line of the squad.

I watched the Boyz first final-round game against Mexico at the Azteca and was impressed, even though I was very surprised about the two clear goals (gifts) that we failed to take advantage of because of poor finishing.

This is why I think Marlon King is still needed in the squad; he is a superb finisher. I would love to know if there is a way Captain Horace Burrell can get Marlon King to reconsider and put what happened in the past behind him, even though it might be hard.

It was very plain in the first match that the finishing is not there, in a match we could have won by three clear goals. Our work is not finished. We still have to try to get him back by whatever means necessary.

Does Tappa have a communication problem or is it a personality problem,I mean Ricketts,King,JJ,Omar Daley ,Damion Stewart ,Hue.He wasnt man enough to beg Ricketts to come out of retirement or call for King ,I dont think Burrel moved for anyone of them without Tappas blessing.

THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Agree. With the idiot Brazilian gone, I think he should be approached to reconsider his retirement from international football.

Without King there is no consistent goal scorer and someone with poise in front of goal is needed.

Talk about cuttting one's nose to spoil the face. Jamaica is famous for that. They allow the idiot Brazilian to destroy King's international career, King retired, then they realize, after wasting millions of dollars, that the Brazilian was an incompetent imposter. Why?. Because he is a Brazilian we are supposed to believe everything he says about football?. Now we need King. But that is how Jamaicans conduct any kind of business.

The main Brazilian who King has problems with is still in the coaching staff.

Why are you so myopic/fickle , ahmean its one Brazilain fault , and when we win to Tappa goes the glory ,isnt Tappa the coach.

I know I know , i have been fickle with Tappa too but big man , we beat the mighty USA with that brazilian ,and drew with Mex in the Azetca with the other brazilain granted Tappa has been at the helm of both wins .

We are growing , much support is needed for this team (coach and all) whatever decision they make ,whether its King or Fuller, included or excluded we have to support.I saw a team that when developed to its optimum can hurt you from any position. That to me should be enough for most to be quiet ,i expect bumps but i see the tactical vision in his attempted system, its bigger than any-one fan/man.

Win loose or draw, I am on it .No more hoof ball or risk football, now its pass move and use your pace,THINKING ball game, a jamaican ball game it will grow as our confidence has grown .Tappa isnt a stubborn rigid coach like Rene or ignorant of tactics like C.B ,that is what i feared most but i see a man a fearless man ,flexible willing to learn and adapt ,recall players when needed(no pride in that) Big MAN ting !His biggest problem I see is his tact , his communication ,so many players sidelined and recalled says alot but hey, he is man enough to admit his mistake and recall!

What you mean support?. The only meaning support you can give to the team is financial, by direct donation/sponsorship, showing up for games thus increasing gate receipts, or buying television viewing. Writing on a forum is support?. I go to games and pay for cable to watch them. That is support, however neglibible that might be. It shouldn't deter me from stating an observation.

No doubt if Marlon King were to come out of retirement we would have a much stronger team. There is no striker in the squad with with Marlon King's quality; but the man is retired...

Btw yes, I am almost sure it was the Brazilian's fault why King retired. It is only so much public musings and press utterances any self respecting human being should be asked to endure, and that fool kept expressing the same nonsense about King In the press time after time. He was the biggest waste of money for the JFF and the Jamaican tax payers. Good riddance.

One thing we know...Marlon King has been the only class striker (excellent striker/real successful striker) to have ever worn a Jamaica shirt!

Luton Shelton yet to prove himself at levels above CFU!
