Three months ago I was able to secure a trial in Japan with J league club Shimizu S Pulse for Jorginho James, I have a personal relationship with Head Coach Afshin Ghotbi, he was seeking a powerful young striker born 1994 or younger who could score goals and bring a different dimension to J league Football, I did some research and discovered that Jorginho James fit that profile, however he was out of form in December and as such we decided at the last minute to not send him to Japan even though the club had made all the necessary arrangements to host him.

We later learned that S Pulse Head coach would be visiting here (Southern California) January 18th-24th so we immediately looked into finding a way to host some sort of showcase event so that the S Pulse coach could evaluate potential players.

The club GM Inquired about Jorginho and I placed a call to him to see what we could do to get him here to California, turned out Jorginho had a US Visa and could travel here, I Informed the S Pulse GM and he agreed to cover all Jorginho expense and fly him here to California, he then asked if there was another player he could bring from Jamaica, after extensive research we discovered Noel Johnson a striker at Glenmuir. S Pulse secured Japanese visas for both players and then flew them to California on January 18th.

Both players arrived here in California on January 18th and I hosted them at my house and trained them each day, at the trials on Tuesday January 22nd, there were 65 youth players from most of the top youth and professional clubs and Academies here is Southern California.

At the conclusion of the trials only two players were selected to join S Pulse during their pre season in Japan beginning January 26th. James and Johnson boarded a flight with S Pulse head coach this morning for Japan.

We wish the boys much success as this could open many more doors for Jamaican youth players in Japan.

Most recently S Pulse sold their top youth player Ishige to Manchester City.

Great news - and not only about the young players, James and Johnson...it is the pathway that may turn out to be most important!

Interesting to see that before the players were sent on to Japan the benefactor saw it necessary to "train them each day". Was it all about fitness or was about teaching them "the game of football/soccer"?
