  • Arsenal & Tottenham In Battle to Sign £2.8m French Internati

Tottenham Hotspur lead the race to sign Moussa Sissoko, the France midfielder, on a pre-contract agreement amid strong interest from several other Barclays Premier League clubs.
Newcastle United and Arsenal have also held advanced talks about the 23-year-old, who plays for Toulouse and has appeared for France at youth and senior level, but there is also interest from clubs in Italy — including AC Milan and Juventus — and Germany for him.

Since this source reported on the apparent interest from a number of clubs in the young French midfielder, it has been announced that Toulouse would look to cash in on Sissoko this month to prevent them receiving no fee this summer.

22 year old tough tackling box to box midfielder Moussa Sissoko is certainly a player who would be welcomed by any of Europe’s ‘Elite’, especially now that he is available ‘on the cheap’. The youngster from the French suburbs had arguably outgrown Toulouse a year or two ago but opted to remain at the Ligue 1 side to continue his footballing education but now he is very much ready to leave the Stadium Municipal.
Sissoko has racked up over 200 top tier appearances and is now a regular in Didier Deschamps French national team set-up and is perhaps the player Arsene Wenger sees as being able to add much needed steel to add balance to a side brimming with creative talent.
The likes of Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla could badly do with a strong tackler on hand to give them time and space on the ball. Sissoko is an archetypal Wenger signing. Young, bags of potential and of course, French.
Andre Villas-Boas may feel he could do with some younger options in his squad and with many suggesting that the Portuguese boss could look to offload veteran Scott Parker the Toulouse man could be seen as an ideal replacement.
In recent seasons Tottenham have beaten their arch rivals to players who were seemingly on Wenger’s radar, including most recently Jan Vertonghen and Lewis Holtby, the White Hart Lane boss will hope to do likewise by snapping up the rangy French midfielder.
