  • Premier League: January transfer window - who needs what

    Arsenal

What they need in a nutshell: More characters as much as more quality.

Window shopping: A goalkeeper - Liverpool's Pepe Reina would be ideal because he needs a new challenge - and, without doubt, another striker. Not just Thierry Henry, either.

Henry would be great at coaching their forwards but, if he comes back again and plays regularly, that would say a lot about where the club is at the moment, and not in a positive way.

A defensive midfield player with character; a leader. He would not have to be the best player Arsene Wenger has ever signed in terms of skill but they need a bit of grit and determination.

Linked with (Player, age, position and club): Pepe Reina 30, GK (Liverpool) Felix Stoppila Sunzu 23, CB/DM (TP Mazembe) Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa 23, CB (Montpellier) Wilfried Zaha 20, FW (Crystal Palace) Thierry Henry 35, CF (New York Red Bulls) Fernando Llorente 27, CF (Atletico) David Villa 31, CF (Barcelona) Lucas Biglia 26, DM (Anderlecht) Luke Shaw 17, LB (Southampton)

Reina ain't leaving Liverpool...and if he does...it won't be to another team in the Prem...he may want to try Real Madrid if Casillas can't get back into JM's good books. But him leaving right now is unlikely.
