NYON, Switzerland -- UEFA has suspended Shakhtar Donetsk forward Luiz Adriano for one Champions League match for unsportsmanlike play against Nordsjaelland.
UEFA's disciplinary panel found the Brazilian forward guilty of "violation of the principles of conduct" in Denmark last week. He was ordered to "perform one full day of community football service."
Luiz Adriano will miss a home match against Juventus on Dec. 5 that will decide if the Ukrainian champion is seeded in the knockout draw.
The violation came when he chased the ball after Nordsjaelland defenders stopped to let it reach their goalkeeper after an uncontested drop ball. The controversial goal made it 1-1, and he eventually scored three in a 5-2 victory that sealed Shakhtar's place in the final 16.
