I do not know what to make of this Rafa deal. Some think he will be perfect for Chelsea, some think not.

I've never understood the antipathy towards Benitez in the British media.
Currently lying third, and with that squad, Chelsea could compete for the title this season with Benitez in charge. I mean really compete: no doubt in my mind. If I supported Chelsea, I wouldn't be dreading it, I'd be relishing the chance to have him in their situation.
FACT: Liverpool came close to winning the league with Benitez and a MUCH weaker squad (would Albert Riera, Robbie Keane or Steve Finnan get near this starting Chelsea XI?);
FACT: Chelsea's defence is the main issue at present, and, bar a few famous cases of zonal marking confusion, Benitez's teams have never shipped a lot of goals;
FACT: Mata, Oscar, Hazard are perfectly suited to the rebounding counter-attack football Liverpool played at their best. Could I seen any of them in the starting XIs that monstered Man United 4-1 and Real Madrid 4-0? Absolutely. Think what Benitez made with Benayoun, and then consider the superior skill of all those players. Think what Benitez did with Lucas, and then consider Ramires.
FACT: There's never been an issue of big players (especially in the Spanish-speaking world) not wanting to sign and play for Benitez. David Silva came close. But for Rick Parry, the owners, and transfer funds, Liverpool were tracking Nejmana Vidic and Dani Alves well before others.
The Torres factor is worth considering, but were I a Chelsea fan, I'd be more excited with what he can do with the rest of the team.
Give him a chance Chelsea: you might be surprised. Besides, if you don't like him, he'll be gone within a season or two anyways.

X, there is ZERO excuse for Benitez this time. He has a squad that only a multi-billionaire can buy, something that G+H didn't have and couldn't give him.
