In August 2010, officials from Concacaf, the sport’s regional governing body, decided that the teams that advance to the final round of qualifying would attempt to fashion a schedule among themselves. That meeting is expected to be held Friday in Miami, pending confirmation from Concacaf. US Soccer confirmed Wednesday that it was waiting for word from New York.

If the principals are unable to reach an agreement (and why would they?), FIFA would then hold a draw on Nov. 7 after seeding the teams. It will most likely use some inscrutable formula that factors in the FIFA world rankings. That would make Mexico No. 1 and the United States No. 2, followed by Panama, Jamaica, Honduras and Costa Rica.

Hexagonal to be determined by draw within next 30 days

The schedule for the final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying will be decided by a FIFA draw, North American soccer's governing body announced Friday.

Representatives from the six teams involved (United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Jamaica) were unable to agree on a schedule amongst themselves and came to a consensual decision to allow FIFA to set the final match list. The draw will take place within 30 days.

The truth behind what happened during CONCACAF's closed-door meeting

The inability of the six federations involved in next year’s Hexagonal to come up with a schedule for the year-long final round shouldn’t have come as much of a shock. Programming such a long and delicate series of games in a way that suited all comers was a near impossibility from the beginning.

That’s why FIFA has random draws. Imagine the 32 World Cup participants, for instance, sitting down and trying sort out groups and schedules. This would have looked a little like that.

It might have been a little bit more of a surprise, though, when Honduran Football Federation president Alfredo Hawit and then Mexican National Teams Director Héctor González Iñárritu came out confirming that the main sticking point to an agreement was that no one wanted to face Mexico last.

We got a very favourable draw. We are God blessed. Now to spring a surprise on MexTico

Mixed feelings, primarily about we playing Mexico twice before our first game against the US.
Then the US two back to back home games against quite possibly the strongest rivals near the end of the round.
Reggaeboyz ending the round with a home game against Honduras may be the answer,nevertheless those US games are at an ideal time regarding strategy.

Bottomline is that we HAVE to win all our matches and try to pick up points on the road. We have our toughest period in June with back-to-back matches with the 1st and 2nd seeded teams. The positive is that they are home matches. The other good thing is that the BPL season will be over by then (May) which would give some of our players a rest before a two weeks (at the very least) camp (preferably in Brazil) while the MLS will still be going on....and the Mexican league also (correct me if I am wrong). If we do well here, it will give us some confidence and momentum to tackle the second round.

Jamaica and Mexico get stuck with 3 games in an 8-day period (June 4-11). That's going to be rough.

Look on the bright side; playing Mexico plays us into form if we observe, ape and adapt/modify as to our fit!

Mexico plays the best baal and is good teacher! It was no joking when yeeeeeeears past I suggested our local and national teams include Mexican tacticians!!

...there is just no team in our part of the football WORLD that attacks as one, defends as one...moves and pass, pass and moves like the MEXICANS!
