  • Whitmore and King

FACT: Marlon King has produced for the 'Boyz (20 games - 12 goals), has a wealth of experience to offer and is still producing for his club (9 games - 4 goals), so it's safe to say he can still make a meaningfull contribution to the 'Boyz.

FACT: Marlon King has a behavioral problem, and it's obvious that desciplinary action alone is not having the desired effect.

Some people will step up when they are entrusted with a leadership role and given the responsiblity and tools to lead and help guide others, because when this is done they realize that what they do and say directly affects others who are looking to them for leadership and guidance.

Now, what I think Whitmore should do is have a one on one talk with King and let him know what he expects of him, not only as a player who can score goals but as someone who can help lead and guide his fellow teammates, especially the younger and less experienced ones, and effectively help to execute the team's game plan. Also show him what playing in the World Cup and scoring in that competition can do for his stature in the game, especially when this is his last opportunity to do so.

interesting point of view... You know I had a player like king on my boys u16 team... talented score lots but was a ******** disturber.. I had the one and one with him and parent and let him back on only to realise the story of the scorpion and the frog.... Not ruling out King but maybe it is not worth the trouble.. He needs to show some leadership.. and discipline and I dont think it up to Tappa to demand it.. King must want to be a part of the solution. I think we need a right back also..

If Onandi Lowe was part of the Reggae Boyz setup then not sure why King should not be...King leaves his antics off the field...

Isn't Tappa the HEAD Coach??? If he is, then it is his JOB to make sure that every player he is directing knows what is demanded of them. If you hire someone to do a jod, don't you inform them what you demand of them before they start working??? Running a business is no different from running a team.
Do you remember what Klinsmann told Altedore??? He informed Altedore what he DEMANDED of him, and when he wasn't satisfied with his performance and attitude, he told him that was using someone else until he was confident that he could fulfill those demands.

*If your employees don't know what is demanded of them, and make sure the tools are in place to help them meet those demands, you are going to encounter confusion, chaos and rebelious behavior.

i remember showing a player to a college coach and he said, I see the talent but you can't pay me enough to take him. The distraction break team chemistry and may not be worth it.

You ever wonder why some coaches can take athletes who are considered a problem, and get them to perform and be a productive member of the team???

Prime example: Dennis Rodman. Before Chicago signed him, other clubs saw him as a very disruptive force and out of control, but Phil Jackson had him playing consummate TEAM ball and helping them win 3 championships. Do you remember what Dennis said when they asked him why he performed like that for Chicago???

No doubt Bricky. The guy gives 100% every time. There is no reason to recall him to the squad. It is about people management. Whitmore should learn from one of the greatest captains in the history of organized team sports, Clive Lloyd.

This BS about King breaking team chemistry is pure hog wash. What team chemistry?. Running around with the ball, passing aimlessly, with no intent or possibility of scoring is team chemistry that will get us anywhere?. We need to cut the crap already.

It is about people management skill. Whitmore probably doesn't have it. Forget the BS childish rules. Change the rules that don't make sense. These are grown professional athletes. What they can't drink or have women after a game, when the next game is 2 weeks away. That is just pure BS.

you have answered your own question.. Tappa is head coach and he sent him home.... I dont see why we are reading between the lines.. he cant force him to do it.. he can just say do this or go back to Birmingham go eat fish and chips.

Let us start with King, Do you know he was not only accussed of breaking this rule, but was accused of going through hotel window in Miami to go party when there was a curfew?

Simoes also realised this behavior and that was why he and others were dropped. Yes if a party you want and the behaviour where our top players missing flights to go a passa passa and go party all night before game then King is welcome. Chemistry on the field is important as off the field.

The man intend on breaking the rules to have his night life. You can't have one member of the team living by one rule and the others by a different rule. He has gotten more than his chance. I am only sorry Humprey never got another chance but King???
