Yep. JFF and coach began to believe their own hype. Hopefully we can get to the hax and but some time to get a real team together. I don't think this bunch can finish in the top 3 or 4 in the hex. It would be just a waste of time.

2. The 1998 team qualified for the WC primarily with local players and a handful of committed foreign based players... that is the only successful qualification model Jamaica has to date... and it debunks your model's bias to foreign based players.
1998 qualification suggests the core of Jamaica's team should be locally based but given massive exposure internationally in a development phase
3. For the umpteenth time...the so called "best players" (by your statistical & league modeling) do not make necessarily the "best team"... especially if those players are only available fleetingly and team play consequently is difficult to develop.
The best team should be the objective ..NOT a grouping of what some model suggests are theoretically the best players... we have seen that foreign movie post 1998..and it's been a consistent flop.
BTW...obviously I'm not suggesting that local players should be introduced in the middle of qualifying..but that a longer term development strategy should be in effect. Your Antigua reference is a non sequiturSunday, August 28th, 2011. We will never forget !!

Hue was one of the better players on the field and IMHO did his job. What I don't understand though is with less than 10 min left and the game tied at 1-1 why tappa subbed in 2 more strikers for a total of 3-4 strikers. Wouldn't it be better to take a safer approach and go more defensive? After all the second goal started when Shelton lost possession

I have been watching Tappa's teams from he took over...and creating chances has never been his teams' problem.
Our problem has been chances to opportunity ratio being ******** poor!!!
Hue?
If you can remember I have always advocated for long term building and continuous results...improving results. Some of the teaching terms used - It is not about visiting at the World Cup finals but once there creating waves; the CFU level play is akin to 2nd form stuff; ...and direct reference to players: Shelton scores a bunch against the 2nd formers (at that level he gets so many chances that it would be amazing if he was not scoring a bunch - ...and it is amazing others of our forwards before the arrival of Shelton was not scoring a bunch - poor kicking & passing technique?); Hue, in mt estimation, is too slow of thought, execution and pace.
...and before that - TEAM! ...and giving all our kids a fair shot (discovering our very best talents - marks no sense not looking at entire talent pool and culling the best) from the earliest school levels across the island - from hills of 'Success to Morant Point in the East', etc;
...suggested that with our attributes - the Mexican way of playing /sharing the ball is the way to go - even suggested Mexican system introduced in our national and local set-up.
....and on and on and on...
Some claim we must walk (win in CFU) before we can run (get to the TOP OF THE WORLD)...but these same advocate picking players who can only give competitive advantage at the 2nd form level. What crap!!!
So...picking the Hues (those who can only give competitiveness at the 2nd form level) is a waste - so we win and against the 2nd formers and advance what then do we do with those players/the TEAM when we get to the CONCACAF Hex...or the World Cup?
Having said all that I shall repeat Hue shares no blame for his past failures...he did not pick himself...and I must be honest in our last game he did his job!!! He did not have a great game but was possibly among our best 2 or 3 performers...and he can do better (be used to greater advantage) if he gets the ball properly weighted (it is his TEAMmates who must recognise his strengths & limitations...as they should for all their other. - If is not so what is the point? How does each maximize on each player's and subsequently the collective, TEAM's strengths?) 'early' and directly to his feet.
My TEAM would not include Hue! We gave up too much on defense and quickness of movement of ball and player and thus possession. The 'creative player' is not our problem - We are creating tons of offense. ...and chances flow. We fumble and misfire in front of goal like Don Knotts in his cowboy movies.Last edited by Karl; October 16, 2012, 11:54 AM."Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. We seem to repeat the same mistake every few matches.
Win the first game you are in the drivers seat, lose the first and you re in a hole, having to play potentially the best and most talented team outside of Jamaica in the Cfu, Martinique, well here goes the same routine having to bring it all and win the next two matches to qualify for the GC which we will need if we make it to WC 2014. Need to stop this romper room business!!
