...and why can they not do that in high schools?
Is it our kids are dumb...and that being dumb only on learning football?

Surely at 17 years old some of our kids can learn and acquire TOP OF THE WORLD technique and playing ability? After all is said, kids of similar age have become top world track and field stars.

...and "Bibi", "Skill" and Lindy were top world talents at similar age - good quality players. Surely the teachers (coaches) Lindy, "Skill" and "Bibi" had were not as qualified as these our latter (current) teachers (coaches)?

Hey! - If the teachers (coaches) our youth need to take them to top world class playing level need upgrading...then our education system must step-up and get that upgrading job done. Not a thing is wrong with our kids - TALENT ABOUNDS!!!

High School is neither the Alpha or Omega of our system of getting top quality footballers. However it is a part of the process and solution. Frankly those who refuse to use those schools and install the environment to best serve our kids and by extension our football) are ....(I shall be polite and not call them out for what they are!)

when you high school football coach also teaches geography or Pe or maths or whatever how the *%&^%#%$^! can they compete with football academies?!!

which high school can afford a football coaching with high level coaching credentials? multiply that by all the highschools. would glen mills give up racers to be the full time coach of a high school?

football is EXTRACURRICULAR activity as part of the public/private school system and so it should remain. there may be some room for improvement but that is more on the infrastructure side of things.

we need a football specific academy for the best young talent. spot them in high school then take them out .... that is the ONLY way.

do kids in Jamaica start high school at 7? You might get the odd straggler, but by age 12, most academy players are in full swing...certainly by 16.

No one is on about not creating great academies...least of all me.

...as to the geography teacher being football coach where the hell that comes from? This is not the 1960s!

Numerous are the schools with specialist football coaches. That is still not the point. The point is schools prepare kids for the real world...why not teachers (was about to say as competent as the geography teacher...but just a look at our %age past rate banished that from my mind)...with great competence for each discipline the school offers? ...inclusive of chess, football, track & field, cricket or whatever?

What is the point of a school offering area of knowledge if not as best as is available?! What is the point of the school not aiming to make the kids best at the age-group it provides for?!

Additionally it is just as much nonsense to offer subpar quality instructions in Mathematics as offering subpar football instructions. Each school must strive to be excellent at what it does.

Additionally - a) The days of considering EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES as an excuse to waste time is over. This is the 21st century. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES are teaching activities. The term does not equate incompetence!
                          - b) In terms of our tax dollars which institution offers greatest exposure to our kids? Gives each kid a shot a achievement (...and yes at introduction to making football a career)?

                          c) Fairness at access to opportunity is damn important! Why deliberately exclude the vast majority of our children from having a shot?

...and to take a shot at Dr. "Muggy" Graham's misguided outcry against transfer of athletes...why in God's name would he not promote improved competences at each school but instead rail against kids seeking advancement and schools offering oportunites?

...would be be against the child who for self same personal advancement based on perceived academic reasons leaving one school, entering another school and displacing the child who previously was at the head of the class at the new school?

What is the difference between both kids seeking advancement? One is more equal than the other?
