Also in the Red Bulls game against the Charleston Battery a couple days ago Dane Richards was involved in the game winner when his 18 yard shot was too hot to handle for the keeper who knocked it down to Kovalenko for the lone score.Dane is having a nice preseason. - T.K.

The Red Bulls reserves drew with Duke University 1-1 on Sunday at Blackbaud Stadium in Daniel Island, South Carolina moving their preseason record to 5-1-5. Dane Richards scored the game's first goal in the third minute after stripping a Duke defender of the ball and finishing the ensuing breakaway. Mike Vedeira equalized in the 78th minute on a one-time shot from the right side of the penalty area off a throw-in.
Hunter Freeman made his Red Bulls debut, playing the full 90 minutes. He was acquired by N.Y. on Friday from the Colorado Rapids for a pair of draft picks.
Nineteen-year-old trialist Danny Stott played the first half. Stott, a product of the Bolton Wanderers' youth system in the English Premiership, flew with the team to Charleston on Friday. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD>
