how some people are blaming some of the players for the poor performance and not Tappa and the coaching staff for the inferior tactics used in the game last nite. I agree that some of the players were ******** poor but did anyone here stop to think they were playing the gameplan instructed by the coaching staff.
We all know team USA is very difficult to beat in the US, but dang if you're goin' to bunker and play counter-attacking football, you must have the following:
1. A forward who can *post up* in the attacking third allowing the midfield in.
2. Passing from the defense to the said *forward* must be completely accurate to play to that effective gameplan.
All I saw was no real gameplan tactically by the coaching staff except to bunker in the first half and throughout the first 20 mins of the 2nd half. Yes players must take the blame for the performance but so too the coaching staff!!!
How many times was the ball booted out of play by the back four with no attempt to actually control the ball and pass in an attempt to relieve some pressure. Player spacing was poor and at times we were too slow in moving the ball effectively. Possession of the ball will not beat you but sitting deep wit no creativity and proper ball IQ will. The notion that anywhere will do is very unacceptable and this team including the coaching staff has alot to learn.
Now there are 2 games left, and its really simple.. we have to win those 2 games to advance. I can guarantee you that team USA will advance so we're basically fighting for the 2nd spot wit Guatemala. Our fate is in our hands! Next matchday is a pivotal game for us. We must play to win in Guatemala and not play counterattacking football. Its not like we're playing Mex or USA, they are beatable in their building plus we need the 3 points.
